(Clearwisdom.net) Divine Perfomirng Arts (DPA) has transformed the landscape of dance in the modern era by redefining the meaning of beauty and elegance through its breathtaking Chinese New Year Spectacular. DPA has continouously reinvented itself, and each year it leaves the audience speechless with amazement and admiration. Its recent shows in Denver, Colorado were no exception.

After watching the performance, Colorado State Representative Judy Solano said, "It's absolutely wonderful. Just enjoying it so much. All the colors, the costumes, the stories behind the dance. It's just fantastic."

Fellow State Representative Debbie Benefield was happy to celebrate the new Year of the Ox by watching the performance. Representative Benefield said, "I think it's very wonderful. Brilliant colors, the rhythm, precision, the hand movements. The hand movements are nothing like I have ever seen before."

She also said that Divine Performing Arts provides a message of hope, "I believe hope, the wonderful experience of the Heaven piece ("Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution"), what a great belief to be able to be lifted up into heaven. What an inspiration it is for all of us."

The Muehlbach family

The family outing could not have been better, according to Mr. Muehlbach, his wife and son, who drove an hour to celebrate the Chinese New Year and to further expose their son to Chinese culture.

"It's very exciting. I enjoyed everything about the show. I knew we were going to like the drum piece and we really did," said Mr. Muehlbach, referring to the "Tang Court Drummers" dance. Mr. Muehlbach works as the director of a multinational corporation based in the United States.

"I like the colorful costumes, I also like the fact that they are very good dancers," said Mrs. Muehlbach. "I thought the costumes were pretty cool," said her son George, adding that "Tang Court Drummers" was his favorite piece.

The family came to see the show because they didn't throw their usual Chinese New Year's party this year as they had just returned from President Obama's inauguration in Washington.

The Spectacular depicts myths and legends from ancient China, contrasting with stories from contemporary China where spiritual belief is persecuted. One such piece, "Heaven Awaits Us Despite Persecution," tells how the father of a young girl is persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party for his belief in the spiritual practice of Falun Dafa.

Mr. Muehlbach said he found that the piece conveyed "a morality tale." "You don't see it very often so clearly displayed. One section where heaven rewarded the young man for defending his family--the little girl in it was particularly excellent, her dancing skills and acting skills were really touching."

The New York-based DPA is composed of a unique group of leading artists who share in a vision of reviving Chinese traditional culture which was all but destroyed under communist rule in China.

Mrs. Muehlbach especially enjoyed the orchestra, unique in that it uses a combination of Chinese and Western instruments. "The orchestra is great. I'm enjoying the music a lot. There is a lot of combination of the arts--music, dancing and acting," she said.

Mr. Muehlbach was impressed with the animated backdrops, which are custom-designed to coordinate with the costumes, choreography, lighting, and storyline for each dance. "I was surprised at how well done it was," he said. "I have never seen an attempt to blend it with dance routines as they have. It's done very well--it's seamless."

Mrs. Muehlbach said attending the DPA show was a great way to celebrate the Chinese New Year and was "more relaxing" than the inauguration. "This was a good way of doing it, and also to expose my son to music, dance and the arts."
