(Clearwisdom.net) We often encounter a very paradoxical issue: When two different practitioners clarify the truth, although they may have used almost the same words and spent the same length of time, the effects are quite different. Someone may have spent quite a lot of time trying to clarify the truth to a particular person, but the person just does not listen, may feel very defensive, and may even argue with and resist the practitioner. But another practitioner can just utter a few sentences, without too much effort, and the person willingly withdraws from the CCP and positions their heart well with respect to Falun Gong. The person even expresses gratitude to the practitioner.

Why is there such a big difference? I recently read Master's "Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Switzerland" (1998) and found the answer. Master said,

"As I mentioned before, when you speak to others with your own goals in mind, wanting to change or persuade them, no matter how reasonable your words are, other people will have a hard time completely accepting them. Nor can the words move people's hearts. Why? Let me tell you: It's actually because the words you say contain all of your thoughts. Your sentences have complicated thoughts included in them, such as your human emotions and desires, and even those many attachments of yours. That makes your words not so powerful and rather diluted. Also, people often look at things from their own viewpoints when they say things to others, and those might not conform to the Fa of the universe. So in this respect they lack the power of Truth. Moreover, when speaking to others, people add things to protect themselves so that they won't get hurt. In other words, the intention behind your words is no longer pure, then. And as a result your words get really frivolous. But when your mind can truly become tranquil, when your attachments get less and less, or when the distracting thoughts get less and less, then you'll find that your words have power. Why was it that when I spoke about non-action I mentioned that you shouldn't interfere with things that shouldn't be interfered with? That's because your words already have power, and words with power can change people. It doesn't matter if your changing someone seems right, you might be doing something wrong. You don't know the truth since what your eyes see is superficial, and since you can't perceive karmic reasons from the past. Your mind will become increasingly pure as you reach higher levels. What your thinking brings forth then, and what you say, will be extremely pure. The purer and simpler they are, the more they conform to the principles of that level of the universe. The words you speak then can instantly pierce people's hearts, strike the depths of people's thoughts, and strike the more microscopic part of their existences. Now isn't that going to be powerful?!" Through repetitively studying this paragraph, I have realized the following: When I was attached to fame, interest, lust, and sentiment, my thoughts were dispersed when I said something. My thoughts were not concentrated; they were weak and lacked power, so they naturally could not move people.

When I based my words on selfishness, what I talked about was just my personal point of view and did not contain Dafa principles. I was validating myself, not Dafa.

When I clarified the truth and persuaded people to withdraw themselves from the CCP and its related organizations, I had many worries and I was scared. I wanted to do it, but I was still afraid of getting myself into trouble. I often mixed many selfish notions into my words.

When seeing those whom I knew, I was afraid of revealing that I was a Dafa practitioner. When seeing those whom I did not know, I kept my guard up, being worried about getting reported to the police, and their subsequent retaliation and exhorting. Therefore, I did not dare to clarify the truth in a dignified way. I was always overcautious and scared. In this way, my words were definitely vague and not focused, and could not hit the target.

When I corrected myself and then went to clarify the truth, I found, as expected, that the effect was good. Recently, my ability to clarify the truth has become increasingly smoother, and the effect of persuading people to withdraw themselves from the CCP and its related organizations drastically improved.

This is my personal understanding. Please point out anything that is improper.
