(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 29 cities or counties in 12 provinces. In this report, 54 practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during their detention and at least 24 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sha Naiyi, who worked at Honggangzi Petroleum Extraction Company, was illegally arrested on July 13, 2007 by officers from Daan City Police Department. She died as a result of persecution the next day. Her family filed a lawsuit. In the meantime, police officers heavily guarded Sha Naiyi's body at the crematory. They cremated the body at 6:00 a.m. on April 27, 2008, nine-and-a-half months later.

Practitioner Ms. Yang Mei from Daan City is a peasant around 30 years old. She was diagnosed with terminal stage leukemia and recovered through practicing Falun Gong. Several officers from the Huiyang Police Station in Daan City ransacked her home on the morning of April 14, 2008 and took Falun Gong materials. Yang Mei's blind mother-in-law was the only person home at the time. Yang Mei was arrested upon returning home. Several days later she was sentenced to 21 months of forced labor and taken to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp.

Practitioner Ms. Sun Yanxiu from Daan City is a small business owner in her 40s. Several officers from the local Huiyang Police Station entered the front yard of Sun Yanxiu's home after they had arrested Yang Mei on the morning of April 14, 2008. They arrested Sun Yanxiu and ransacked her home, taking a photograph of Falun Gong's founder and several bookmarks with the words "Falun Gong" on them. Several days ago, Sun Yanxiu was sentenced to 18 months of forced labor and taken to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp.

Laizhou City 610 Office agent Liu Jingbing and 15 other officials arrived in four police cars and arrested practitioner Ms. Wang Xueju on the afternoon of April 23, 2008. She was selling pancakes in the street at the time. They took her to Laizhou City Detention Center.

Practitioners Ms. Li Guizhen and Ms. Li Qingzhen, both in their 70s, were reported when clarifying the facts to four grade school students at 1:00 p.m. on March 8, 2008. Police officers arrested them and sent them to the Linjiang City Police Department in the afternoon. Later in the day, officers from the Linjiang City Police Department and from the Linjiang Forest Police Department ransacked both practitioners' homes. The practitioners' adult children obtained their release in the evening.

Five officers from the Linjiang City Police Department, led by a local officer from the Jianguo Police Station, ransacked Li Guizhen's home again at 4:00 p.m. on April 25. They took a photograph of Falun Gong's founder and Falun Gong books. Li Guizhen's adult children took her home at 9:00 p.m.

The police also ransacked the home of practitioner Ms. Jiang Ying on April 24, 2008.

Practitioner Ms. Zheng Yumei is in her 40s and works for a gas company in Xuanhua, Zhangjiakou City. She was arrested on April 24, 2008 when distributing Falun Gong flyers and is currently held at Xuanhua Detention Center. The police ransacked her home and took computer(s), printer(s) and Falun Gong books, among other things.

Officers from Dongsheng Police Station in Xuanhua District went to another practitioner's home at 3:00 p.m. on March 7, 2008, claiming to check residence permits. Five practitioners were studying Falun Gong books. They were Ms. Bai Yuhua, Ms. Feng Yanli, Ms. Zhao Guirong, Ms. Yang Meilan and Ms. Yan Xiulian. The police took away a photograph of Falun Gong's founder and Falun Gong books. They detained Bai Yuhua, Feng Yanli, Zhao Guirong and Yang Meilan for 15 days. They also extorted 3,350 yuan from Zhao Guirong and 3,000 yuan from Yang Meilan. All four practitioners have returned home safely.

Tian Yuenan, deputy head of Dongjing District Police Department Domestic Security Division in Tonghua City, led a group of officers from Dongchang Police Station, including Pan Kun. They broke the lock on the door and entered practitioner Ms. Wang Ronglan's home at 8:00 p.m. on April 23. They arrested her and two other female practitioners. Wang Ronglan is in her 60s. They ransacked her home and took a DVD burner and several DVDs.

Practitioner Fu, who was renting a room in the Nanshan No. 10 Middle School residential area, was arrested on around April 23, 2008.

Practitioners Hong, Ms. Ting and Ms. Ting's non-practitioner husband were arrested in Erdaojiang on April 23, 2008.

Practitioner Mr. Xu Hongjun was arrested at his home on the evening of April 23. The homes of his parents and father-in-law were also ransacked. He is now held at the Tonghua County Detention Center, staging a hunger strike to protest the persecution.

Ms. Zhang Yuanmei was reported when clarifying the facts about the persecution. She is currently held at the Shatoujiao Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Li Yuchao, who works for the Pipeline Transportation and Storage Company, was arrested by Wang Xiaokong, deputy head of Weifang Police Department Domestic Security Division and other officers at 2:00 p.m. on April 28, 2008 when distributing Falun Gong flyers. He is being held at Weifang City Detention Center.

The police ransacked his home in the afternoon. They took some Falun Gong books and materials.

Practitioner Mr. Zhang Airong from Shanyang Village, Yinma Town, Changyi City was arrested recently.

A family of Falun Gong practitioners in Guanzhuang, Chaoyang District, was arrested on April 19, 2008.

Practitioner Ms. Leng Shuling from Beiwuli Village, Zhaoyuan City was arrested on around April 10, 2008. Agents from the 610 Office had set aside a special place near Lingnan Gold Mine to persecute her. Police officers Li Jianguang and others tortured Leng Shuling ruthlessly three times inside the secret area and then transferred her to the Zhaoyuan City Detention Center.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Zhongxiang from Xiawanzi Village, Muqi Town was arrested on April 23, 2008.

Eighteen officials arrived in eight cars at practitioners' homes in Hebei Province. These persecutors were from the Jizhou City Police Department, the 610 Office, the Broadcast Bureau, the Nanwu Village Town Political and Judiciary Committee, and the Nanwu Village Police Station. They broke into the homes of four practitioners at noon on April 25, 2008. They said they were checking for a satellite dish, as independent TV satellite reception is illegal in China, and removed three small dishes, one large dish, one VCD player, and some Falun Gong books.

Seven police officers arrived in three cars and ransacked the home of a practitioner on the morning of April 26, 2008. They took some Falun Gong books. They called the practitioner that afternoon and ordered him to report to the town government for interrogation.

Recently, officers from Qianan County Police Department and township police stations followed practitioners to their homes. They eventually broke into the homes and attempted to coerce practitioners to be fingerprinted and sign documents. When the practitioners refused to cooperate with them, the persecutors ransacked their homes and then arrested the practitioners if any Falun Gong-related materials were found.

Practitioners arrested over the past few days include Ms. Zhao Xiaoxia, Mr. Zhang Yungui, Ms. Liang Liying, Ms. Hu Xiqin, Ms. Yin Guifang, Mr. Zhang Wenbin, Ms. Sun Xiuzhen, Ms. Hu Yuanling, Ms. Li Chunhua, and Ms. Zhao Yanping.

Officers from the Shuizi Town Police Station arrested the family member(s) of a Falun Gong practitioner and took them to Qianan County Detention Center.

610 Office agents ransacked the home of practitioner Ms. Qiu Xiaomin from Zhabei District, Shanghai at 10:00 a.m. on April 29, 2008. They did not find anything but arrested her nonetheless.

Practitioners Mr. Wang Qinghua and Ms. Wang Qing were taken to the Jiangshuiquan Women's Forced Labor Camp in Jinan City after being illegally sentenced to one year of forced labor. Wang Qing was diagnosed with high blood pressure and has returned home. Wang Qinghua is still held at the labor camp.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Ying, an engineer at the Guangzhou Geographic Chemistry Research Institute at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was arrested at work. Participating in the April 15, 2008 arrest were national security agents and police officers. Ms. Wang was previously held at the Chatou Forced Labor Camp in Guangzhou City between 2000 and 2002.

It has been learned that practitioners Ms. Shi Ruifen and Ms. Niu Zhiqin, who were arrested two weeks ago, are being tried at the Feicheng Court. A verdict has not been reached.

Practitioners Mr. Zhang Xumin and Ms. Liu Qian from Feicheng are held at Taian Prison. Their daughter went to visit them but the prison authorities refused to let her meet with her parents because they refused to "reform."

Officers from the Guandian Township Police Station in Xi County arrested practitioner Mr. Liu Hong at 9:00 a.m. on April 27, 2008. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Wu Ming from Shunyi District, Beijing was arrested at her workplace, the Niulanshan Erguotou Liquor Factory, on April 10, 2008. The police ransacked her home and the home of her father-in-law. She is currently held at the Nihe Detention Center in the Shunyi District.

23. [Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province] Two Practitioners Arrested

Two practitioners were arrested recently; one in the Jiangning District and the other one in the Xixia District.

Ms. Zhou Ling, 41, is a teacher at the Xunanzhuang Elementary School in Ganma Town, Ganyu County, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. She was arrested on April 26, 2008 when handing out VCDs and Falun Gong flyers. She is now held at the Lizhuang Police Department and is holding a hunger strike.

Practitioner Mr. Yan Xiaoping from Chengdu City was arrested on November 14, 2007. His case was reported to the central Communist Party Committee. He was originally from Deyang City and worked at the China Erzhong Corporation.

Practitioner Mr. Liu Yingxu was arrested at the same time and is now held at the Xinjin Brainwashing Center. His hometown is Mianzhu, Deyang City. He was employed at the Oriental Steam Turbine Factory.

Both practitioners were fired for practicing Falun Gong and were twice sent to labor camps.

26. [Beijing] Mr. Li Jing Arrested

Practitioner Mr. Li Jing from Songyuli, Chaoyang District, Beijing was arrested on February 26, 2008.

Practitioners Ms.Yang, in her 50s, and Ms. Piao, in her 40s, from Changchun City were arrested and taken to the Shuguang Road Police Station on April 27, 2008. They have been transferred to the No. 3 Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Yun Fuqi was reported to the police by a resident of Xinli Village, Deshan Township, Fangzheng County on the evening of April 26, 2008 when he clarified the facts about Falun Gong. Officers from the Deshan Township Police Station then arrested him.

Linying County Police Department Domestic Security Division deputy head Li Hui led officers from the Wanggang Police Station to arrest practitioners Mr. Cao Shuiwang and Ms. Ling from Bei Village, Wanggang Town, Linying County on April 7, 2008.

Five officers from the Linying County Police Department Domestic Security Division and from the Chengguan Police Department broke into the home of practitioner Mr. Niu Wenji. He works at the Linying County Education Bureau. The home invasion took place at 6:00 p.m. on April 9, 2008. The officers took Falun Gong books and materials.

All three practitioners were held at the Linying Custody Center. Cao Shuiwang and Ling were sentenced to forced labor on April 22, 2008, and Cao Shuiwang was taken to the No. 3 Forced Labor Camp in Xuchang City, Henan Province. Ling was sent to the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Linying County Police Department officers sentenced Niu Wenji to forced labor and subsequently took him to the No. 3 Forced Labor Camp in Xuchang City.

Practitioner Mr. Zheng Xiaogang and his father were arrested on April 27, 2008. Their current whereabouts are unknown.

Yang Yugang and several other officers from the Zhuozhou City Police Department's Domestic Security Division broke into the home of Mr. Wang Yun and his wife Ma Fengxia in Bachigan Township in Zhuozhou City, Hebei Province at 8:00 p.m. on April 24, 2008. Both practitioners were arrested. The couple's current whereabouts are unknown.

Three practitioners from Jinan City were arrested in Feicheng about two weeks ago. They were arrested when handing out Falun Gong materials while visiting relatives there. They are currently held at the Feicheng Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Shao Zhongye from Dandong City met with his family this month at the Benxi Prison, where he is being held. A division head sat to his left, and two inmates followed him everywhere. Shao Zhongye only had the opportunity to say, "I am being terribly persecuted here!" before he was taken away.

Officers from the Longhua County Police Department's Domestic Security Division arrested several practitioners who visited another practitioner at her home on April 28, 2008.

The police sealed off and locked the home of 47-year-old practitioner Ms. Tang Lianzhen in the Lijingyuan Residential District in Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province on April 28, 2008.

Practitioner Ms. Luo Guiyou is around 30 years old and works at the Dongcheng Traffic Police Division Cafeteria in Dongguan City. A surveillance camera let officials see her distributing Falun Gong materials on April 8, 2008. Officials from the division talked to her the next day from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Officers from the Dongcheng Police Station ransacked her home and took a Falun Gong book and a PDA device, then arrested her at 4:00 p.m. They interrogated her until midnight and subsequently sent her to the Dongguan City Detention Center. Her family only received a notice that she had been detained.

Practitioner Mr. Gao Shuzhong from Baigou Town, Baoding City returned home on March 20, 2008. About 40 practitioners are still being held at Baoding Forced Labor Camp. They are from Shanhaiguan, Chengde, Fengning, Fuping, Laishui, Xushui, Tang County, Zhuozhou, Qingyuan, and Gaobeidian.

Practitioners Ms. Lu Caixia and Ms. Zhou Yanhong from the Datong area were arrested when distributing truth-clarification materials in the Datong Mining District. They are being held at that district's detention center.

Police officers from the Shuangliao Electricity Plant in the Siping area, the Shuangliao Police Department's Domestic Security Division, and the Liaoxi Police Station arrested practitioner Mr. Wang Zengwu at 9:00 p.m. on April 23, 2008.

Wang Zengwu used to work at the Shuangliao Electricity Plant and he was persecuted after 1999. He was sentenced to a heavy prison term and was fired without an explanation. Mr. Wang was incarcerated at Jilin Prison and Shilingzi Prison in Siping for four years.

40. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Liu Guoliang and His Wife Persecuted

The cases of practitioner Mr. Liu Guoliang and his wife have been transferred to the procuratorate.

Practitioner Ms. Yu Xuelan was taken from her home in Jiaomendongli, Fengtai District, Beijing. Officers from the Tongzhou Police Department participated in the arrest on January 5, 2008. She was taken to the Qiaozhuang Detention Center and her home was ransacked.

Practitioners Ms. Jin Junmei, Ms. Yue Zhongxiu and Mr. Li Xiguo were arrested at Jin Junmei's home when producing Falun Gong materials on April 13. The police confiscated a notebook computer, a copy machine and 8,000 yuan in cash.

Jin Junmei and Yue Zhongxiu are currently held at the Jiuzhou Detention Center in Lanzhou City and face possible sentencing after one month. Li Xiguo is held at the Hualinshan Detention Center. The situation of practitioner Li Xiulan, also from Gansu Province, is unknown.

Practitioner Mr. Liu Shengzhi was arrested in Wuhan City in mid-April 2008. He has returned home.

Liu Shengzhi went into exile to avoid illegal arrest after appealing for Falun Gong. The police tortured his parents in an attempt to find out his whereabouts. His mother died as a result of persecution. His father Liu Piliang left town and makes a living in another place.

44. [Jilin Province] More Than 10 Practitioners Held at the Fuyu County Detention Center

Songyuan police arrested practitioner Ms. Liu Likun from Jiangnan, Songyuan City on April 23, 2008. The police took equipment such as a computer and printer from her home.

Practitioner Mr. Xu Hui, a teacher at Dalinzi Middle School in Fuyu County was arrested on April 24, 2008. Participating in the arrest was Hu Zhanchun, one of the political heads from Dalinzi Police Station, and other officials. Mr. Xu was taken to the Fuyu County Detention Center.

According to a detained practitioner, more than ten practitioners are currently being held at Fuyu County Detention Center.

Officers from the Bajiazi Town Police Station and from the Longcheng Police Station in Helong City ransacked the homes of practitioners and arrested practitioners in the area between April and May 2005. They took Falun Gong books, more than 10,000 yuan, a computer and other things from practitioner Mr. Wang Yujie's home. His family has frequently asked for the return of these items.
