Understanding the Importance of Taking Every Thought and Action Seriously When One Has a Toothache
(Clearwisdom.net) One day, my tooth ached so much that I could not eat. I was sending forth righteous thoughts on an empty stomach. My tooth still hurt, and my gums were swollen. I thought it might have been gingivitis, since I am older. I did not look at it based on the Fa. My family member (also a practitioner) said I should think if I recently did something that had not conformed with the Fa principles.
I looked inward that evening. How come a cultivator developed a toothache? It had to be that I had an attachment or did something wrong, so the old forces exploited my gap. I recalled that during an after Christmas sale, I went shopping, and the cashier had deducted more than 30 dollars from the final price. There were so many people lined up in front of the cashier that I left without paying back the extra change right then and there. I had a bad thought, which was that the company made lots of money from my all my purchases, so I was not in a hurry to pay it back. But I would pay them back when I had time. I thought the manager would then praise me for being honest. Those were attachments to self-interest and qing! I suddenly realized that my thoughts were not right in this incident.
I went back to the store to pay back the extra money the next morning. One employee told me, "You do not need to do this. You can leave without paying it back." I clearly knew that I could not make the same mistake. Falun Dafa practitioners must have righteous thoughts and actions at every second. I insisted on paying them back, and the employee accepted the money. My toothache and swollen gums both dissipated that same evening.
I realized that genuine cultivation includes being absolutely righteous in every little detail of our daily lives. Thank you, Master! Thank you for your benevolent hint.
