(Clearwisdom.net) About 2,000 Falun Gong practitioners from around the world held a candlelight vigil under the Washington Monument in Washington DC on July 21, 2006. They commemorated all Falun Gong practitioners who have died as a result of CCP persecution, and at the same time, urgently appealed for justice and conscience, to stop the seven-year persecution with concerted efforts.

As night fell, practitioners formed the letters "SOS" with candles to symbolize the urgent need for action to end the persecution. One of the organizers said that while the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong has persisted for seven years, practitioners have gone through numerous tribulations, faced the murderers' brutality, and through it all have demonstrated great compassion and tolerance. To safeguard justice and truth, they have been striving forward without regret and complaint. While clarifying the truth and opposing the persecution, practitioners have become more mature, and steadfast in their belief in Dafa. They have also helped more and more people learn about Falun Gong and Dafa disciples.

A practitioner from Washington DC said, "We hold such activities to help more people learn about the truth, awaken people's conscience and work together to stop the persecution."
