1. Getting rid of fear, going into Chinatown

Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa in San Francisco, 2005,"

Every time I read this paragraph, I felt very guilty. I had not done well in clarifying truth to the Chinese people. Fa-rectification has progressed to this point, and we have all realized that we need to do continuous and solid work in Chinatown. However, we could not even ensure that we had enough people to distribute the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and clarify the truth about Falun Gong there everyday.

I had been delivering the Chinese Epoch Times to Chinatown every week for more than two years. I had also distributed the Nine Commentaries there since its publication. I should take the most responsibility for clarifying the truth to the Chinese people in Chinatown. Why did I feel such a lack of confidence? Teacher said,

I looked inwards to see what I feared. I found my fear was that Chinese people were so polluted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that they would be difficult to save. This was also a kind of fear. Teacher also said in his teaching, "But think about it--who should actually be afraid of whom?" Teacher's words were to strengthen our righteous thoughts and power. Dafa practitioners are the only hope sentient beings have to be saved. If we have fears, who else would come to save them? Actually, Teacher has taught us the Fa on how to untie the mental knots of the Chinese people. What we are doing today is validating the Fa. The Nine Commentaries is what the Chinese people need.

Through studying the Fa and continuous exchanges with fellow practitioners, I got rid of my fear. The thought of "rectifying the Fa in Chinatown and saving the Chinese people" was strengthened in my heart. With a new confidence and attitude, I went into Chinatown to clarify the truth.

From day one, I felt that whenever my xinxing was good, Teacher would take care of everything. I view those Chinese coming to Chinatown as being arranged by Teacher to listen to my truth-clarification. Every chance to clarify the truth is also a small test for me. It is to test my comprehension of the Fa, my understanding of the Nine Commentaries and my benevolence towards sentient beings. Each time I can find some areas for improvement.

Clarifying the truth in Chinatown is to untie the mental knots in those Chinese people's hearts. Even seemingly ordinary things are worth sharing, and some practitioners asked me to share them. Below are some of my experiences.

2. "Is this true?"

I have a push-cart set up to help people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). There are three big signs on it: "Service for Quitting the CCP (telephone number, fax number, and website)"; "the Nine Commentaries has been published for over a year and 11 million Chinese have quit the CCP and its organizations, how about you?" "Heaven will soon eliminate the CCP, quit the CCP to be safe!"

One day, after I parked the cart, a large group of Chinese tourists came over. They saw the sign and were astonished. I went to them to give them the books and DVDs on the Nine Commentaries, as well as fliers about quitting the CCP. They were afraid to take them. One person, who appeared to be the leader of the group, continued asking me, "Is this true?" (Referring to the number of people who have quit the CCP) I told him that the actual number is most likely much higher than this, because not everyone can declare their withdrawals through the website to be counted, and some could only do it by writing down the declaration in a public place in China.

I showed them a picture that I cut from a copy of an Epoch Times newspaper that displayed paper Chinese currency with the following text written on it: "Give me back my country, Heaven will soon eliminate the CCP, I hereby announce that I quit the CCP, Beijing citizen Old Liu." Then I showed them the method published in Epoch Times about calculating the number of people quitting the CCP. Lastly, I told them that even though you may doubt this number, the CCP believes it, because the Nine Commentaries have been published for more than a year and the CCP has never responded to it. High-ranking officials in the CCP know that even those that have not quit are no longer so devoted to the Party, and they are searching for their own exits. According to an August 2005 report by the China Ministry of Commerce, in the past several years, about four thousand Chinese officials have left the country, taking about fifty billion dollars with them.

They did not say anything about my reply. I could see that they were thinking. Looking at their backs as they left, I felt my responsibility was critical. Over fifty years of brainwashing by the CCP has had a profound, terrible effect on the Chinese people, and it is our responsibility to save them.

3. "Is this effective?"

"Is this effective?" Most people who ask this question are young. I would ask them, "What do you think is the most powerful thing in the world. Is it a big army? Is it atomic bombs? No, it is the people's conscience. The awakening of people's conscience is the most powerful thing." Why has the CCP blocked the Nine Commentaries and information about quitting the CCP? What it is afraid of the most is the awakening of people's conscience. If Chinese people could walk away from their fear of the CCP and escape from their mental control, then wouldn't this evil party in effect be dead already? This is the most effective way to peacefully, rationally and smoothly transition China into a society without CCP control.

Why are the Chinese not yet aware of their current predicament? The Nine Commentaries say, "The key lies in the mind-control practiced by the CCP... If the Chinese people enjoyed freedom of expression and could debate openly the merits and demerits of the CCP, we could imagine the Chinese would have long ago seen through the evil nature of the CCP and freed themselves from the influence of this evil cult." Our distributing the Nine Commentaries and telling people to quit the CCP was to awaken the people's conscience and to help them realize the evil nature of the CCP and make the right choice for themselves. Therefore, what we are doing is very effective.

4. "Why do you write 'Heaven Will Soon Eliminate the CCP'?"

The Chinese have been brainwashed under the CCP's atheist dogma for over fifty years. I exchanged ideas with fellow practitioners on how to help them understand the meaning behind "Heaven Will Soon Eliminate the CCP." We thought that we should go with an angle that Chinese people could understand and accept, using the only remaining belief in their hearts, that goodness begets goodness and that evil will be punished.

The next day after our exchange, a man in his forties came to Chinatown. Pointing to the sign about quitting the CCP, he asked, "Why do you say 'Heaven Will Soon Eliminate the CCP'?" I answered him this way, "The Chinese have always believed that goodness begets goodness, that evil will be punished and the principle that anything will go in the opposite direction when it reaches the extreme. The CCP has commited numerous huge crimes. To keep itself in power, the CCP has killed over eighty million Chinese during its 57 years in power. They are harvesting and selling organs from living people. These crimes will not be tolerated by gods or human beings. In the human world, the CCP controls all the power through the military, the police, its propaganda machine, etc. It is hard for normal people to fight against it. But what it has done not only hurts us Chinese, but also people all over the world. So Heaven is going to extinguish it."

We keep hearing news from China about karmic retribution suffered by 610 Office members and policemen who have committed the most heinous crimes. Haven't there been a lot of natural disasters in China, such as big floods, sandstorms, SARS, and the bird flu? All of these are warning signs from Heaven. It is Heaven's law that goodness begets goodness and that evil will be punished. Just because it has not happened yet does not mean that it will not happen, it simply means that it is not the time yet.

5. "What will become of China when the CCP falls?"

Now that the number of people quitting the CCP has exceeded eleven million, many Chinese people no longer doubt that the CCP will perish. However, they are not sure about what would happen to China, then. It is clear that this question is very important to our current truth-clarification efforts.

Regarding this question, Teacher said at the Canada Fa Conference 2006,

Through sharing with fellow practitioners, we realized that in order to truly benevolently save sentient beings, we need to expose the evil of the CCP on the one hand, and also let them see the hope for the future on the other. This is another "mental knot" that we need to untie for sentient beings. People have various worries about the future of China after the CCP's collapse, and we should address them.

1. Some people worry, "Will China fall into chaos if the CCP falls?"

First we need to let people understand that the real cause of chaos in China is the CCP! To keep itself in power, the CCP repeatedly uses violence, kills a lot of people in its movements, and stirs up hatred. They have gone from killing the landlords during land reform, to the Tiananmen Square massacre of students in 1989, to framing Falun Gong with the faked self-immolation. The CCP is the real cause of chaos in China. If the CCP falls, the root cause is removed. In other words, the CCP's downfall is caused by the chaos that it created itself. In the past several years, there have been many protests in China to protect people's rights that the CCP has labeled "riots." There were over eighty thousand incidents of this kind in 2005, averaging one case every five minutes. The CCP's downfall will not lead to chaos in China. In fact, it will remove a lot of it.

Secondly, we need to help the Chinese people understand that one of the most vicious methods that the CCP has is to use its party culture to replace traditional Chinese culture. With no moral restrictions, the ethics of the Chinese people has been sliding downwards fast. After the CCP is gone, people will then slowly rid themselves of the pollution of the Party culture. This will bring people's moral standards back up. Just as the Nine Commentaries claimed, "Recovery of humility toward heaven, the earth and nature, respect for life, and awe before God." After people's minds come back to the right standard, China will have a truly peaceful and harmonious society.

2. Some people worry, "When the CCP collapses, who is going to lead China?"

After the CCP's downfall, the Chinese need to exercise their own rights to elect people that they trust to manage China. People in Taiwan have done this, and there are many examples in Western countries as well. Though there has not been a country with a perfect democratic system, overall this system is well accepted by the majority of the people in the world.

3. Some people worry, "Chinese culture is different from those of western countries, so China cannot have the same democratic system as they do."

People in Taiwan have answered this question already. They share the same culture and roots with us. Taiwan started its democracy eighteen years ago. "Asia Weekly" commented, "The democratic process of Taiwan in the past eighteen years has demonstrated that the power of the Taiwanese people is able to overcome the abuse of political power. This is a victory for people in Taiwan." If people in Taiwan can achieve it, why can't people in Mainland China achieve it?

4. Some people worry, "When the CCP collapses, will the Chinese people have a better life than they do right now?"

So many of the CCP's officials are corrupt. When the CCP falls, the money that those corrupt officials took will be returned to the people. Furthermore, at the peak of its persecution of Falun Gong, the CCP spent a quarter of its GDP to sustain the persecution. The Nine Commentaries said, "In 2001, information from inside the Party's Public Security Department showed that, the expense of arresting Falun Gong practitioners in Tiananmen Square alone, was 1.7 to 2.5 million yuan per day, which amounts to 620 to 910 million yuan per year." Extending that number to the whole nation and the persecution of practitioners overseas--after the disintegration of the CCP, all of that money and materials can be better used to improve the living condition of the Chinese people.

Moreover, without the CCP, Chinese society will become more stable and peaceful, and Chinese people will be more at ease. This will enable people to have more motivation and creativity in their work, and thereby improve the lives of the Chinese people even faster.

While clarifying the truth in Chinatown, I have learned that the historical responsibility given to Dafa disciples is very critical. We are the only hope for sentient beings to be saved. Sentient beings are watching every move and every word from us. Our persistence is the confidence and power they need to get rid of the CCP.
