(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Jiang Tao from Changchun City, Jilin Province, was arrested in 2001 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Since then he has been routinely tortured in Jilin Province Prison.

Mr. Jiang is 30 years old, a grinder employed by the Steering Factory under the Changchun City First Automobile Group Company. During the summer of 1996, Mr. Jiang was sick with nephritis. He tried different methods to cure it, but nothing worked. His schoolmate later introduced him to Falun Dafa, and his nephritis disappeared. Mr. Jiang doesn't smoke, drink, or play card games but works hard and always gets good comments from his boss and colleagues.

After the persecution of Falun Dafa started in July 1999, Mr. Jiang went to Beijing to clarify the truth. The police arrested him and took him back to be detained for 15 days in Daguang Detention Center in Changchun City. He was transferred to Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp and forced to sleep on the concrete floor for three days. Then he was transferred again to the Balipu Detention Center. After that he was detained for more than 40 days in the Weizigou Drug Rehabilitation Center.

The police always harassed Mr. Jiang at his home and his work place, and they even knocked on his door at midnight because he wouldn't stop practicing Falun Dafa. His mother, who has heart disease, was so frightened that Mr. Jiang was forced to become destitute and homeless in order to avoid being illegally arrested at home.

In 2001, Mr. Jiang was arrested in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. On August 2, 2001, he was detained for two years in Tiebei Detention Center in Changchun City. During that time, he was subjected to many different tortures, such as being handcuffed and shackled for 24 hours.

Both Mr. Jiang Tao's parents were unemployed and lived a very poor life, but they still saved one to two hundred yuan for Mr. Jiang Tao each month. On November 16, 2001, his parents deposited 200 yuan for him in the detention center account, but he never received it.

On December 10, 2002, Mr. Jiang was sentenced to 12 years in prison. On July 8, 2003, he was locked in Jilin Province Prison, but his family still hasn't received a sentencing statement. Mr. Jiang has been under severe monitoring ever since.

Jilin Province Prison allows only two visits per month, 20 minutes per visit. There is plate glass between the prisoner and his visitors, and they have to use telephones to communicate. The prison guards monitor the conversations, and they sometimes interrupt the visitations. Family members are not allowed to send any daily necessities. They can only deposit money. Ordinary products sold at the prison are extremely expensive.
