(Clearwisdom.net) On June 27, Minghui Net reported that Zhuo Guibin, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Hebei Province was abducted on June 18, 2004. He is currently being detained in Baoding Forced Labor Camp and is on a hunger strike in protest. The news also reported that two dozen other practitioners are illegally detained in Baoding City. This information revealed that there is still brutal persecution of practitioners going on in this area. This has attracted the attention of practitioners outside China and good people everywhere.

1. 23 Dafa practitioners have died from torture in Baoding City

Over the past five years, Baoding has always been the place in Hebei Province where Falun Gong practitioners have suffered most severe persecution. The notorious Baoding Forced Labor Camp and Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp are two concentration-like camps in Baoding that persecute practitioners. Many cases of deaths as a result of torture, verified through non-governmental channels, were reported from Baoding City.

According to Minghui, from July 20, 1999 to the end of June 2004, at least 997 Dafa practitioners were tortured to death, verified through non-governmental channels. As many as 103 of those deaths were from Hebei Province. Hebei Province ranks No.5 in deaths of Dafa practitioners in China. Of the deaths in Hebei Province, 23 happened in Baoding, 1/5 of the deaths that have occurred in Hebei Province.

Practitioners tortured to death include local Baoding City practitioners and those from other areas in Hebei Province. Their names are:

Ms. Jiao Fenglan (Laishuixian County, Baoding), Ms. Rong Fengxian (Jinzhuang Township, Baoding), Feng Guoguang (Xiling Town, Yi County, Baoding), Ms. Tai Yurong (Wangdu County, Baoding), Ms. Liu Dongxue (Mancheng County, Baoding), Ms. Zhan Jinyan (Jiangcheng Township, Baoding), Ms. Xiong Fengxia (Dingxing County, Baoding), Di Wanqing (Li County), Ms. Zhang Yiqin (Laiyuan County), Ms. Ma Zhanmei (Laiyuan County), Liu Baoyuan (Dingxing County, Baoding), Wu Yanshui (Laishui County, Baoding), Ms. Wang Jinling (Mancheng County, Baoding), Ms. Gao Shiping (Qiaoxi District, Zhangjiakou City), Chen Hongping (Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City), Lu Zhaofeng (Niantou Township, Daming County), Ms. Chen Yanying (Ningjin County), Ms. Sun Shouqi (Dingzhou City), Ms. Wang Juan (Dingzhou City), Ms. Chen Xiaoqin (Anguo County, Baoding), Ms. Wang Yaping (Shuangqiao District, Chengde City), Cheng Zongzhan (Baoding City), and one female Dafa practitioner with unknown name.

All 23 Dafa practitioners benefited from Dafa cultivation, both mentally and physically, and every one of them had many moving experiences. Wang Yaping once had bone cancer and liver cancer. Either cancer could have claimed her life. She started to practice Falun Dafa in 1995 and the cancers were healed. Chen Xiaoqin once had terminal cancer. There was no cure for her illness. The hospitals said she had very little time to live. After she started to practice Falun Gong, the illness disappeared. Lu Zhaofeng strictly followed the principles of Truthfulness¨CBenevolence¨CTolerance to cultivate his mind and actions and benefited a lot. He felt that Dafa should be introduced to more people. Even though his family was in strained financial circumstances, he still offered his limited amount of money to buy Dafa books and to copy truth-clarifying materials. Zhang Yiqin never went to school and she even could not read her name. Within several years after she started to cultivate Dafa, she could read every word in Zhuan Falun and could write simple letters to her family.

Of these 23 Dafa practitioners who died as a result of torture, five of them died in 2004

Of the Dafa practitioners who died as a result of torture, each one of them suffered extreme torment and unimaginable pain. Some of them died of serious physical injuries or suffocation from the torturous force-feeding; some died from physical exhaustion from the savage beatings and other physical punishment; some died from the effects of prolonged and excessive forced labor; others died from various other physical and mental torments in brainwashing centers....

All this demonstrates that during Jiang's persecution of Falun Gong, Hebei Province and Baoding City have acted as loyal hatchet men, applying Jiang's policy of extinction, "Ruin their reputation, exhaust their financial resources and destroy them physically."

2. The torture methods are savage, vicious and terrifying

The evildoing forces in Hebei Province sent the steadfast female Dafa practitioners who were illegally detained in different labor camps to Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp, and sent all the male Dafa practitioners to Baoding Forced Labor Camp, for centralized abuse, mistreatment and savagery under the persecution. Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp has a reputation as "Masanjia in Hebei Province" and Baoding Forced Labor Camp was "crowned" as "one of the top civilized labor camps in China." These two labor camps are the most vicious, abusive persecution locations in Hebei Province. The camp police use all kinds of cruel methods to torture Dafa practitioners, trying to "reform" them. There is no guarantee for the safety of these Dafa practitioners' lives. The following lists several of their many fiendish and viciously cruel torturing methods.

Torturous Force-feeding harms bodies and takes lives

Clearwisdom.net has published (http://www.clearwisdom.net/emh/articles/2003/7/25/38510.html) the following about Baoding Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province: each Falun Dafa practitioner who went on a hunger strike was handcuffed to a chair. His head was then forcibly pulled back, stretching his neck over the top of the back of the chair. At the same time, the police forcibly pushed his head back and down as far as possible. The practitioner's neck was held immobile against the top of the chair, and his head was pushed down to the limit, virtually flattening and closing the esophagus, cutting off all airflow. Then the police would hold the practitioners' nostrils shut with their fingers and use a large knife to wedge open his mouth, causing his mouth to bleed. Finally, they forced food down his mouth. This torturous method of force-feeding can easily result in death by suffocation, because the nasal passages are blocked and the mouth is stuffed with food, unable to enter the blocked esophagus. Falun Dafa practitioners who have survived this kind of torture have later said that it was extremely painful and one would rather die than continue to suffer such torture.

Four Dafa practitioners in the Baoding Forced Labor Camp, including Feng Guoguang, Ma Zhanmei and Zhang Yiqin, died from this type of forced-feeding. Many other Dafa practitioners lost parts of their lungs from the forced-feeding; they coughed severely and spit mucus; the pain is difficult to describe in words.

Death Bed: Excruciating Pain

Baoding Forced Labor Camp launched a new round of persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, forcing every Dafa practitioner to go through a torture dubbed the "death bed." The torture is as follows: The victim is placed on a bed face up, with his or her four limbs shackled to the four corners of the bed. Two to five bricks are placed under the victim's back to increase the pain. The police then tightly tie the victim's four limbs, chest, and shoulder to the bed. They elevate the foot end of the bed with objects in such a way that the victim's feet are in a higher position than his or her head, so the victim is suspended upside down. They order the victim to say, "I will no longer practice." If the victim refuses to say this, they either tighten the rope or add more bricks under the victim's back to make the victim suffer excruciating pain. This torture could last from 4-5 hours to several days. The torture will not stop unless the victim said that he or she gives up practicing Falun Gong. At the same time, the police also shock the victim with electric batons. This torture could cause the practitioner's whole body to become black and blue and fester. After Falun Gong practitioner Li Jianguo was deprived of sleep for thirteen days, he was tied to the "death bed" for as long as one and a half months.

Sleep Deprivation, Electro-Shock Torture, Inhuman Bondage, Torture to the Point of Disability

The police in Baoding Forced Labor Camp did not allow practitioner to sleep. They even used small wooden sticks to keep their eyes open. The practitioners were tortured this way for ten to fifteen days. The police even clamored, "Why not use tanks to crush you as in the June 4 Incident!" [On June 4, 1989, many Chinese students during the student movement were crushed to death by the Chinese military tanks in Tiananmen Square] In the women's group, the longest time that a practitioner went without being allowed to close her eyes was 16 days. Practitioners are also subjected to other tortures, such as cuffing the practitioner's four limbs spread-eagled to a bed; shocking with electric batons (dark purple burn scars were often seen on practitioners' necks and faces as a result of this torture); tying practitioners up (tying practitioners up for a long time would cause lack of circulation and some practitioners became disabled as a result. Amongst people going to work, some are often seen walking with a limp). Dafa practitioner Ma Yulin was tortured this way many times. Additional means of torturing include forcing practitioners to stand facing a wall for long periods of time and forcing the practitioners to hold their heads with their hands and remain in a squatting position for long periods of time. Because of this long-term squatting, some practitioners became paralyzed and lost feeling in their four limbs.

Sitting in a Squatting Position, Stuffing Nostrils and Mouth with Hot Chili Peppers; Burning the Soles of the Feet; Force-Feeding with Feces

The brutal tortures used in Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp include "sitting squat," stuffing hot chili peppers into nostrils and mouth, burning the soles of the feet with a firecracker fuse and force-feeding with feces. The "Sitting Squat" is an extremely cruel torture. Police would handcuff a practitioner's hands onto something high, and then force the practitioner to assume the squatting position. Being tortured this way for a long period of time will make the handcuffs cut into the flesh on the wrists and make the legs and feet swollen. The person will have difficulty standing and his or her back will experience intense pain.

On April 8, 2001, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Haiqin, deputy head of Handan City's Bureau of Finance in Hebei Province, was subjected to this torture. At the same time, more than 20 police officers attacked her like wild animals. Some used electric batons to shock her, causing huge blisters around Liu's mouth, which police broke open as they beat her. The police continued to torture Liu for 72 hours. Cui Xiuzhen, female, is 61 years old and a resident of Shenze County, Hebei Province. She was barbarically tortured every night for one month. The police used two electric batons at the same time to shock her ears, mouth, nose, hands, feet, neck, and the insides of her legs. They put nails between her toes and then used an electric baton to electrically shock her. Police also took burning hot chili peppers and stuffed them into her nose and mouth. After the torture, bloody clumps would come out of her nose and mouth. Police used very thick willow sticks to whip her feet, and they used pliers to twist her toes and scratched her soles with two-inch-long nails. They also used firecracker fuses to burn her feet. Furthermore, the police ordered inmates to twist her nipples, breasts, and private parts. She was dragged across the snow-covered ground and made to lie or sit on top of ice and snow. She suffered such intense brutal tortures 10 times in one month, during which time she lost so much weight that she weighed only 40 kg (about 88 lbs). While she was on a hunger strike with four other practitioners, police force-fed them feces. As a result, all five of them developed stomach infections and their blood pressure dropped to only 50.

In Baoding Prefecture, all kinds of cruel tortures are widely used. All these fiendish tortures are invented and permitted to be used during Jiang's genocidal persecution of Falun Gong. Using these tortures is strictly against the Chinese Constitution, against Chinese laws and international agreements and treaties.

3. Jiang's Accomplices Being Held Responsible for Their Crimes; A Lawsuit Was Filed in Chicago Against Wang Xudong, the Former Party Secretary for Hebei Province

Wang Xudong is the former Communist Party Secretary for Hebei Province and is responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong in Hebei Province. He is now Minister of China's Information Ministry. Falun Gong practitioners charged him with torture and severe violation of human rights during the time when he was attending the "Third Sino-U.S. Telecommunication Trade Summit" in Chicago recently, and he received a court subpoena in Chicago. The subpoena ordered Wang to respond in twenty days; otherwise, Wang would be tried in absentia.

According to the complaint, while Mr. Wang served as Communist Party Secretary for Hebei Province from June of 2000 through to November of 2002, he "did not follow international laws and Chinese laws to take action to stop the human rights abuses of Falun Gong practitioners by Chinese Communist officials and people from the '610 Office.' Instead, he authorized and supported a harsh persecution of Falun Gong."

There are five Chinese provinces, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, Shandong, and Hebei, in which Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted most aggressively. These five have accounted for over half of the deaths of practitioners from abuse while in custody. The death toll in each of the five provinces is over 100. On March 28, 2001, the People's Liberation Army Daily carried a special article, commending Wang for his direct involvement in "reforming" (i.e., brainwashing) Falun Gong practitioners.

According to information on Minghui, Wang Xudong became the fourth Chinese high-ranking official whom Falun Gong practitioners presented with lawsuits when these officials visited overseas this year. Prior to the lawsuit against Wang, Chinese former Minster of Culture Sun Jiazheng, Chinese Minster of Commerce (former governor of Liaoning Province) Bo Xilai, Anhui Province Communist Party Secretary Wang Taihua had all received court subpoenas for their involvement in persecuting Falun Gong while they were visiting overseas.

Other high-ranking Chinese Communist Party officials who had received court subpoenas earlier included Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Li Lanqing, Zhou Yongkang (Minster of Public Security), Wu Guanzheng (former Shandong Province Communist Party Secretary), Zhao Zhifei (head of Hubei Province's Public Security Department), Liu Qi (Beijing Communist Party Secretary), Xia Deren (Deputy Governor of Liaoning Province), and others. From those sued, Zhao Zhifei, Li Qi, and Xia Deren have already been found guilty in court.
