Greece: Lawsuit Filed Against Chief Persecutors of Falun Gong Practitioners

(Clearwisdom.net) At approximately 11 am on August 5th 2004, a criminal lawsuit was filed in Greece against Jiang Zemin, Li Lanqing and Luo Gan for their crimes of Torture. This was followed by a press conference in Athens to let the public know about this step towards bringing the chief persecutors of Falun Gong to justice. The press conference was attended by both Greek and international media, and featured 3 plaintiffs from this lawsuit as well as several experts in the field of law and human rights. The following is a statement sent to the media before this press conference.

Dafa Practitioner Lian Ping from Liaoning Province Tortured to Death

Mr. Lian Ping, 29 years old, was from Qianyang Village, Donggang City, Liaoning Province. In 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa, and was arrested and detained twice afterwards. On April 10, 2002, he was arrested while distributing truth-clarification materials. On April 30, 2002, he was sentenced to 6 years in prison. On July 10, 2004, he was tortured to death at the Liaoyang City Prison. His family members are under great pressure from the authorities, and they dare not say anything about his death.

Dafa Practitioner Yang Hongyan Tortured to Death at Yangai Farm in Guizhou Province

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yang Hongyan, born in 1964, was a Dafa practitioner from Duyun City, Guizhou Province who started practicing Falun Gong in 1996. She worked at the Duyun City Textile Factory. In November 2000, she was arrested while distributing truth-clarification materials. In 2001, she was sentenced to 4 years in prison and sent to Yangai Farm (in actuality a prison) in Anshun City, Guizhou Province. In late July 2004, Yang was in critical condition due to continuous torture. She was sent to the Police Hospital for emergency treatment. On July 27, the prison informed her family to come visit her. At that time, she was already paralyzed and confined in bed. Her right arm was black and purple. She went from weighing 117 1bs. to only 68 1bs. Ms. Yang passed away at 4:00 a.m. on July 29, 2004.
