New York: Candlelight Vigil Held in Midtown, Calling to Take Seriously the Extension of the Persecution to the American Society (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom.net correspondent Shen Jing reports -- On the evening of August 28, Falun Gong practitioners from across the U.S. gathered outside the Waldorf Hotel located on the Park Avenue to hold candlelight vigil, calling upon the American society to take seriously the harm of American's freedom of belief caused by Jiang Zemin's regime. Practitioners called upon the entire world to work hand in hand to stop the persecution against human rights that is taking place in China and has been secretly extended to democratic countries outside China. The twinkling candlelight formed a bright line that covered three blocks. Yellow banners calling for an end to the persecution were displayed side by side. About four to five hundred people attended the vigil.

Manhattan, New York: "Great Wall of Courage" Calling for Help to Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom.net correspondent Tang Feng reports -- On August 28, 2004, about 400 Falun Gong practitioners from across North America, Europe and Asia formed a "Great Wall of Courage" on Park Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. The "Great Wall of Courage" started from 45th Street and extended to 59th Street. Yellow banners with blue words read, "Help Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong" as well as other types of banners and display posters were displayed along the entire "Great wall of courage." Waldorf Hotel was located at the intersection between Park Avenue and 49th Street. This famous hotel has long been the guesthouse where important political figures choose to stay. Falun Gong practitioners held an anti-torture exhibition with a live reenactment demonstration of the tortures used on practitioners in China.
