Eleven Falun Dafa practitioners in Longquanyi District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, were placed under arrest from May 21 to June 17, 2004. At 4:00 p.m. on June 16, Chen Jinghai, Yang Hong and other lawless officials abducted Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Yufang from her home and took her to a brainwashing unit.

On the morning of June 28, 2004, four officers from Yunnan Province and two officers from the Qinglong Police Department arrived in three police vehicles at the residential quarters of the Chengdu City Railroad Bureau. They broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Gu Zhengfen's home. The officers confiscated Falun Dafa books and took her into custody. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

At 8:00 a.m. on June 23, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Chang Qingzhi, an employee of the Jinzhou Petroleum Extraction Factory, was at work when officials of the factory security section arrested her at the instigation of the Liaohe Oil Fields "610 Office" and the factory's Party Committee. Ms. Chang has been taken to the Luotaishanzhuang Brainwashing Center in Fushun City, Liaoning Province.

After 9:00 p.m. on July 6, 2004, officers from the Nu'erhe Police Station in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province suddenly arrived at Liu Chenhua's home. Liu, an employee of the Nu'erhe Textile Factory in Jinzhou City, did not answer the door. The officers kicked the door, smashed the doorframe and broke in without presenting any legal documents. A total of eight officers ransacked the place, confiscated a tape recorder, a Walkman, Falun Dafa books, tapes, and Falun Dafa lectures transcribed by hand. Around 11:30 p.m. they forcibly took Liu Chunhua into custody. Liu's whereabouts are unknown.

On the evening of June 17, Ms. Zhang Xiaomei, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Beixing in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, was arrested by local police while she was distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying CDs.

Between 6:00 and 7:00 p.m. on July 5, Kang Yunling, a Falun Dafa practitioner in Liaoyuan City, Jilin Province, received a phone call at home and was told to go to Dongfeng County. Kang was arrested in Dongfeng County as soon as he arrived there. Kang remains in custody at Dongfeng Prison.

Ms. Li Qiongzhen, a Falun Dafa practitioner from Huazhou City, Guangdong Province, who had been under arrest, was unconditionally released on July 6 after going on a hunger strike to protest.

Ms. Gao Chengnu, 29, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province. Her husband resides in the Republic of Korea. She has also been granted a Korean passport for immigration purposes, but she has been arrested and cannot leave China.

Ms. Gao was turned in to the police while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. She was first taken to the Dongfeng Branch Police Department and sentenced to three years of forced labor. Her father had no choice but to send in 5,000 yuan (2) to the police department. Upon receiving the cash payment, the police changed her term to one year. Ms. Gao was sent to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp in early June.

She was force-fed in the labor camp. The guards handcuffed her hands to the back of the chair. Several people pressed Ms. Gao down, another tried to pry her teeth apart with a metal spoon, and yet another guard pinched her nose shut. As a result, her teeth were loosened, and her entire mouth was injured. An unknown drug was fed to her.

On the afternoon of June 28, police officers led members of the Huazhou City "610 Office" to Baobao Kindergarten and arrested Ms. Lu Xiurong, a 51-year-old teacher, and took her to the Jianjiang Police Station. A neighbor, who made a few comments on the unlawful act, was slapped on both cheeks before being taken into the police vehicle. The neighbor wasn't released until several hours later. Ms. Lu's whereabouts are unknown.

On June 29, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Yaqun of Donghu Market was arrested by officers from the "610 Office."

On July 1, officers from the "610 Office" broke into Ms. Li Yanqiong's home and arrested her. Ms. Li, 55, was at home alone. In 2001, she had been unlawfully arrested and taken to a brainwashing unit in Maoming City for over a year. She was then transferred to a brainwashing unit in Guangzhou City. By the time she was returned home, she was emaciated and had become mentally impaired. Ms. Li quickly recovered as she continued to practice Falun Dafa, which resulted in her arrest this month.

Ms. Li is on a hunger strike demanding her unconditional release.

On July 6, Mianyang Falun Dafa practitioner Wu Digao was arrested near the Mianyang Railroad Station. Wu's whereabouts are unknown.

On the evening of June 14, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Guo Baoru and Ms. Chai Cijuan were distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Dongli District, Tianjin, when informants alerted the police. The two practitioners were arrested. They are now being held at the Fengniancun Detention Center in Fengli District, Tianjin.

Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Ms. Chen Jinhua, is also being held at the same detention center.

After 9:00 p.m. on July 7, 2004, officers from the Lianxin Police Station in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, showed up at a store jointly owned by Ms. Liu Li and her sister Ms. Liu Ying, both of whom are Falun Dafa practitioners. Ms. Liu Li was arrested, but Ms. Liu Ying happened not to be there at the time.

On June 2 with help from school leaders, state security officers from the Panlong Branch Police Department, led by Li Jinchang, broke into Mr. Jiang Yuliu's home. The officers confiscated a personal computer and other items. Later they unlawfully interrogated Mr. Jiang five times. Mr. Jiang and his wife, Ms. Shi Yun, wrote a public letter addressed to leaders of the school and the Party Committee in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, to expose these unlawful acts. They were turned in to the police while delivering the letter to the school. The Changchun Road Police Station unlawfully interrogated the couple on the grounds of "disrupting social order," despite the fact that Ms. Shi Yun is several months pregnant.

On the morning of July 7, 2004, while he was at work in the Kunming City No. 2 Intermediate Level Professional School, Mr. Jiang Yuliu was deceived into entering a police vehicle for a chat at the state security brigade of the Panlong Branch Police Department. He was taken directly to the Yunnan No. 2 Provincial Forced Labor Camp at Dapingba, Lufeng County on charges of "disrupting social order."

On July 4, 2004, police across Yi County in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, coordinated a campaign to harass and arrest Falun Dafa practitioners and to escalate the persecution against those practitioners who had already been forced to stay away from their own homes. They ransacked Falun Dafa practitioners' homes in various villages.

That evening Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Chen Naixiu from Shahezi Village in Qianyang Township, Yi County, was arrested. Around 11:00 p.m. the same evening, Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Cheng from Zhongni Village in Qianyang Township was also arrested.

On the morning of July 5, Falun Dafa practitioners Mr. Liu Zhigang, director of a middle school, and Mr. Lin Baoguo, a teacher, were arrested at their schools. Both practitioners are in their forties and from Dizangsi Township, Yi County.

On June 30, 2004, led by Tianyi Town officers, officials from the Chifeng City "610 Office" and the Ningcheng County "610 Office" came to Falun Dafa practitioner Peng Jingshan's home. They deceived Peng into leaving home by telling him that leaders of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region needed to talk with him. Peng was forcibly taken to a brainwashing unit run by the Chifeng City "610 Office."

On July 5, 2004, Ms. Wang Shuwen, Ms. Cai Shuhua and another practitioner from Lingyuan City, Liaoning Province, went to distribute Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. Officers from the Songzhangzi Police Station received reports about this and arrested Ms. Wang and Ms. Cai. The other practitioner, whose motorcycle was held by the police, managed to escape.

When the police were searching for this practitioner in Lingyuan City, they spotted Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wen Yaqin distributing truth-clarifying materials and arrested her. Ms. Wen is in her seventies and was visiting her daughter who lives in Lingyuan City. The three practitioners are being held at the Lingyuan City No. 1 Detention Center. The police are still looking for the escaped practitioner.

On November 10, 2002, Falun Dafa practitioner Xian Jijun, an employee of the Supply Division at Jilin Oil Fields, was arrested by the Ningjiang District No. 2 Branch Police Department. Xian was taken to the Shanyou Detention Center in Songyuan City, Jilin Province, and unlawfully sentenced to three years in prison in July 2003.

On April 17, 2004, officers from the Yanjiang Police Station, a subsidiary of the Ningjiang No. 2 Branch Police Department, arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Chunxiao. Ms. Zhang is an employee of Lianhuapao Farm in Qianguo County, Songyuan City, Jilin Province. She had been forced to stay away from her home to avoid persecution. On April 29, she was unlawfully sentenced to three years of forced labor by the Ningjiang No. 2 Branch Police Department and sent to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp in Jiutai, Jilin Province. Because of heart problems and high blood pressure, she was admitted to a temporary custody facility in the labor camp for a month. Ms. Zhang remains under persecution at the labor camp.

(1) The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
