Increase in Reported Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners Puts Human Rights in China in the Spotlight Again

(Clearwisdom.net) Since the United Nations Commission on Human Rights 60th session opened on March 15, human rights abuses in China have received much attention. Confirmation of the deaths of 83 other practitioners have come from sources in China between the time practitioner Liu Chengjun was tortured to death on December 26, 2003 and April 5, 2004. There was a death case reported almost every day. Twenty-six of the deaths occurred this year, while others had occurred earlier, and only now was news of them able to reach the outside world.

The Suffering of Chen Aizhong's Family Attracts Attention at the UN

(Clearwisdom.net, April 14, 2004) Since Jiang's group began suppressing Falun gong in 1999, authorities in Zhangjiagkuo City, Hebei Province, have followed Jiang's persecution instructions to the letter. In addition to illegally imprisoning and sending a huge number of Falun Gong practitioners to forced labor camps, over ten practitioners have been persecuted to death in that city. Among them were two of Chen Aizhong's family members, who were tortured to death in succession, Chen Aizhong and his younger sister Chen Hongping.

She called for an immediate end to the persecution of Falun Gong.
