(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Nan Chuyan and his wife have two daughters and a son. They are from Wanggang County of Xishui City in Hubei Province. They began practicing Falun Dafa in 1997. Since applying the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in every area of their lives, all their illnesses disappeared and the family has become known as having a high moral character. The whole family enjoyed peace and contentment, until Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Mr. Nan Chuyan was arrested and sent to a forced labor camp for one year because he adhered to his beliefs and appealed to the government for the right to practice Falun Gong. The brutal torture and beatings he endured in the camp led to his death a month after his release in November of 2002.
Mr. Nan Chuyan's youngest daughter, Ms. Nan Xifen was sentenced to six years in prison because she told others that Falun Gong is good. She is still being persecuted in a prison somewhere in Sichuan Province. Mr. Nan Chuyan's son, Nan Xiaoqin, was arrested and sentenced to an eight-year prison term for telling people that Falun Dafa is good. Nan Xaioqin suffered all kinds of torture in the detention center. The torture has caused him to develop high blood pressure, heart disease and cerebral arthrosclerosis and his life is in danger. A family that was once happy and blessed has been torn apart by the persecution.
Mr. Nan's wife and his elder daughter went to the legal departments numerous times requesting the release of the son, Nan Xiaoqin, who was on the verge of death. The response of the authorities was only lies, curses and sneers. In October of 2004, Nan Xiaoqin's mother went to see Huang Haijun, the deputy director of the Xishui County Police Bureau. He is in charge of the local persecution of Falun Gong. She tried to reason with him and begged for the release of her son. Huang Haijun glared at Nan Xiaoqin's mother fiercely, and even choked her with his hands while cursing at her and pushing her out of the door.
Since she could not make an appeal or reason with them, the mother hung a board around her neck with the word "Reason!" She then went to the streets in search of justice through people's support and sympathy, to save her son from death. She went to the front door of the county government on October 11 and cried out her story. At about 11:00 a.m., two police vehicles pulled up and a group of policemen surrounded her. They attacked her and stuffed her mouth with dirty socks to muffle her cries. Then, they pushed her down, dragged her into the police vehicle and took her to jail. Nan Xiaoqing's elder sister was also arrested and detained.
