(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Liu Yanxiang, 56 years old, was abducted by officers from the local police station in November 2002. The police first took her to the Fengrun County Detention Center, then transferred her to the Tangshan No. 1 Detention Center. Ms. Liu was detained for more than 100 days before she was illegally sentenced to labor camp.

The authorities transferred Liu Yanxiang to the Kaiping District No. 1 Women's Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City, where she was subjected to more than 20 days of intensive brainwashing. The guards ordered former practitioners who had turned against Falun Dafa under the persecution to torture her around the clock. They tried to force her to give up her practice of Falun Gong by not allowing her to sleep and by physically punishing her. Liu Yanxiang did not budge in her belief. On March 12, 2003 the police transferred her and nine other unwavering practitioners to Gaoyang Labor Camp, Fifth Brigade, Women's Company (it has since changed its name to the Women's Brigade). Ms. Liu and the other practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal abduction and detention. The guards and prison doctor force-fed her with food laced with drugs. Each day they handcuffed her to the bedpost. They then had the former practitioners continue with their brainwashing and verbal abuse. In their brutal brainwashing attempts, the guards constantly used sleep deprivation, beatings and verbal abuse, both day and night without letting up.

On the evening of April 20, the guards took Liu Yanxiang to a deserted field, where they were trying to burn and bury practitioners alive. There were five bonfires lit, and the guards were torturing practitioners in front of each bonfire. One group of guards was burying a practitioner alive in a pit. While pushing Ms. Liu towards the bonfire, a guard asked her, "Which would you like, being burned to death or buried alive?" Ms. Liu replied, "Neither." A police brigade leader named Hu (given name not known) started beating her with a stick, while several other deputies said that she should be buried alive. They were stopped by Ms. Liu's righteous thoughts. Other practitioners who were being tortured that night included Ms. Du Hongcai and Ms. Song Guixian, both of whom were transferred from the Tangshan Detention Center. Ms. Li Jinling, also present, had been transferred from Baoding Labor Camp. The guards finally dragged Ms. Liu back to the labor camp after midnight. They beat and cursed her all the way back.

On April 23 the guards brought Liu Yanxiang to a room on the second floor reserved for defaming Falun Dafa and torturing practitioners. There was no window in this room, and the whole place was lined with cloth and sound-absorbing tiles. The room was also equipped with loudspeakers and dim lights. The ceiling and walls were all painted with drawings defaming Dafa. The guards stripped Liu Yanxiang naked and nine deputies pushed her onto the floor. They used electric batons to shock her hands, feet and back simultaneously. Ms. Liu lost consciousness in a short amount of time due to the intensity of the torture.

At the end of October, the police gave each practitioner a test designed to force them to slander Falun Dafa. All the practitioners clarified truth by answering the test based on the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance." The police were very angry and persecuted the practitioners further with various tortures. On November 9 the police took Liu Yanxiang to the room on the second floor again. The Women's Company leader Wei Hongling led six other policewomen to shock her again with electric batons. Yet Liu Yanxiang did not waver in her belief in Falun Dafa. The police poked her with scissors and burned her hair with fire while laughing loudly at the same time. Even though her mouth was bleeding, Liu Yanxiang loudly proclaimed, "Falun Dafa is good!"

Police guards who participated in the April 23, 2003 torture of Liu Yanxiang include Li Xuejun (the Instructor at the Fifth Brigade), Ma Li (office deputy), Ye Shuxian (company leader), Wei Hongling (key perpetrator performing the tortures, since promoted to company leader) and her husband Li (given name not known), Yang Zemin (Fifth Brigade leader), Hu, and three more deputies with unknown identities.
