1. [Shandong Province] Recent Update on Practitioner Tan Hongrang

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Tan Hongrang from Qingdao City was arrested in August 2004 in a fellow practitioner's home in Heze by perpetrators from the local "610 Office." He was illegally held for over two months. On October 24, officers from the Jinhu Road Police Station in Qingdao City took him from Heze back to Qingdao City and sent him to a brainwashing class held by the "610 Office." Tan Hongrang's family was not allowed to visit him. The "610 Office" enforcers wanted to find out how his family knew Tan Hongrang was being held there. The police ransacked his home. According to a witness, Tan Hongrang has become disfigured from torture. Acquaintances can hardly recognize him.

On October 26 and 27, 2004, authorities from Jiaohe City's "610 Office" and from the Jiaohe City Police Department ransacked the homes of practitioners Jia Lizhu and Ren Hongxia. They arrested the two practitioners and sent them to the Jiaohe City Detention Center.

Wei Yunlai, a retired worker from Shengli Oil Field's No. 1 Oil Construction Company and family member Hou Junying were reported on November 5 as they were clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in public. Officers from Binhai Police Department arrested them and ransacked their home the next day. They didn't find anything Falun Gong-related in the home. Right now, Hou Junying is being held at a brainwashing center at the Shengli Oil Field Transportation Company, and Wei Yunlai is being held at a brainwashing class at the Warehouse and Supplies Department of the Shengli Oil Field.

Officers from Qingyuan County's National Security Bureau arrested practitioner Zhang Jinsheng. In early April 2004, the police had posted a 30,000-yuan reward for the capture of Zhang Jinsheng. During his detention, the police captain tortured Zhang Jinsheng and reportedly broke his skull. Despite the torture, he couldn't extort a confession from Zhang Jinsheng but is still planning to sentence him.

On October 25, 2004, officers from the Qingyuan County Police Department arrested practitioner Ms. Du Baofeng at a market place. She shouted, "Falun Dafa is great!" when the police were taking her away. The police ransacked her home and found many truth clarification materials.

Practitioner Li Yaguang from Qianjin Village, Qingyuan County, Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was arrested in late October 2004. Li Yaguang's pedi-cab was recently stolen. When the thief abandoned the pedi-cab, the police found it and traced it back to Li Yaguang's home with information they found on the license plate. They saw Master's picture at Li Yaguang's home, arrested Li Yaguang and sentenced him to three years of forced labor.

Practitioner Song Dongmei is 40 years old and was a teacher at the Guangdong Province Machinery Factory. Perpetrators from Xinghua Street in the Baiyun District of Guangzhou City persecuted her.

Having no other options, she had to go into exile in June 2001. In October 2001 she was arrested at her rented home in Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province. Authorities held her for nine months at the Xinjian County Detention Center, where she was tortured. During a visit her family saw that she had been injured and disfigured. She also had difficulty breathing and taking care of herself.

Because she refused to give up Falun Gong practice, she was sentenced to seven years in prison and is now being incarcerated at the Xinjian County Women's Prison. (Our righteous thoughts go out to her.)

Around 10:00 p.m. on October 22, 2004, Hongjiang District's Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Wen Tiqiang, along with Wu and Xiao Jianguo, heads of the police department, led local police officers Zhou Wei, Yu Yiqiang, Yu Huimin, Meng, and Huang Ling from the "610 Office" to ransack the home of practitioners Mr. Zeng Hongyuan and his wife in Huaihua, Hunan Province. They found only a new Falun Dafa article. After they beat Zeng Hongyuan and his wife, they sent Zeng Hongyuan to the police department, where he was brutally beaten him before being released. They put his wife into a car and sent her to a detention center.

After Zeng Hongyuan was released, he thought about the reason behind the persecution. He realized he was being persecuted for being a good person who lives according to Truth, Compassion, Tolerance. He had been very ill from numerous illnesses after more than a decade of living on the Qingzang Plateau, all of which disappeared after practicing Falun Gong. It was impossible for him not to step forward to clarify the truth and validate Falun Gong. The next day he made a sign that read, "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance is great! The police violate the law!" and walked into the street with it. Within half an hour, the police arrested him.

On October 25, 2004, practitioners Hou Shengye, Cao Youjie, Sun Fengyun, Liu Yunxiang and Shao from the Fangzheng Forestry Bureau were arrested. The train police on the No. 72 Express Train from Harbin City to Beijing were responsible. On November 5, the Criminal Division of the National Security Bureau of the local police department detained the practitioners. They are currently incarcerated at the Fangzheng Forestry Bureau's Detention Center.

On August 15, 2001, practitioner Wang Zhengrong from Jiangjjin City was sentenced to two years of forced labor. In the labor camp he said loudly, "Falun Dafa is Great!" Police incited drug addicts to slap him in the face with a hard shoe sole over 100 times. In order to resist the evil abuse under this persecution, he staged a hunger strike for over 60 days.

In 2003, Wang Zhengrong was released. Local police, however, kept harassing him, and he left home to live in exile. During that time he continued to clarify the truth of Falun Dafa to people until police arrested him and another practitioner after he sent truth-clarifying materials to the other practitioner. Both of them were then subjected to agonizing methods of torture. The other practitioner and he staged a hunger strike lasting about month to protest the persecution. Later Jiangjin City's Court sentenced him to four years' imprisonment and sent him to the Yongchuan Prison.

Practitioner Ms. Wang Meihua from Chaoshui Town, Penglai City, is around 37 years old and was recently arrested. We have heard that this happened because police found Falun Dafa materials in her home. Another practitioner by the last name of Meng was also arrested. At present, both of them have been sentenced to forced labor.

Police from Haiyang Town, Qinhuangdao City, arrested Hou Guiqin and another practitioner by the last name of Xue from Qinhuangdao City while they were clarifying the truth to people in the rural area of Haiyang Town. They are now being held at Qinhuangdao City's No. 2 Detention Center.

At around 8:00 a.m. on October 13, 2004, officers from Beigang Town's Police Station arrested practitioner Ms. Xu Shujuan from Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, and sent her to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp in Tangshan City. She was arrested because police suspected she had distributed truth-clarifying materials.

At present, Beijing Women's Prison authorities are conducting another round of abuse, torment and mistreatment in the persecution against Falun Dafa practitioners. Prison Warden Li Ruihua and Deputy Warden Zhou Ying have given a special assignment to prison units numbered 3, 4, 7, 8, and 10, where practitioners are held. The units have been ordered to reform all practitioners within two months. Guards take turns keeping practitioners from sleeping and trying to force them to slander Teacher and Dafa with dirty words. They are attempting to destroy practitioners both mentally and physically.

At present, practitioners Ms. Yuan Lin, Ms. Xu Na, Ms. Li Li and Ms. Zhou Zi are their main targets.

Zhu Guanghua from Beijing's Prison Management Bureau was promoted for persecuting practitioners. He was a team leader in Unit 9 of Qianjin Prison, Qinghe Police Department, and, because of his "achievement" in persecuting practitioners, he has been promoted to Section Chief of the Prison Management Bureau. He has been to Qianjin Prison and Beijing Women's Prison numerous times recenly to give orders on persecuting practitioners.

Practitioner Gong Xueshun of Guiyang City was arrested after 10:00 p.m. on November 4, 2004. Personnel from the Youzha Street Administration Committee, Guiyang City, are responsible. He is now being held in the Lannigou Detention Center.

Gong Xueshun's copy machine malfunctioned, so he sent it to the Tianyu Office Equipment Ltd. Co. for repair. An employee of the company asked him to leave his number. During the afternoon of November 4, someone called him from the Tianyu Office Equipment Co., saying the copy machine was fixed and asked him to pick it up. That evening more than ten policemen, as well as someone from the Street Administration Committee, came to his home to arrest him.

Ms. Chen Yongbi, wife of an employee of the former Hongming Electronics Factory, mailing address P.O. Box 82, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, is about 60 years old. At 11:30 a.m. on October 27, 2004, someone reported her to police for clarifying the truth of Falun Dafa. A police officer waiting at the gate of the building arrested her. Her home was ransacked. She is now in Pi County's Detention Center.

Practitioner Mr. Zhu Wenhua of Tianjin has been held since May 2003 by authorities from the Dayingmen Police Station, Hexi District, Tianjin. Police authorities used all kinds of excuses to prevent family members from visiting him. Later Zhu was secretly sentenced to eight years' imprisonment and incarcerated in Tianjin City's Prison. It's been two to three months so far, and the police authorities still do not permit Zhu Wenhua to meet with his family. According to conscientious insiders, Zhu Wenhua's 80-year-old mother endured many difficulties but finally found the prison and wanted to see her son, but they refused to let her see him.

In the summer of 2004, practitioner Yang Huilin was illegally sentenced to three years of forced labor. Personnel from the "610 Office" sent him to the notorious Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province. Yang Huilin escaped through many checkpoints with righteous thoughts by the end of September. Now he is living in exile.

The Gaoyang Forced Labor Camp enforcers sent many policemen to search for him, but they failed to locate him.

Mr. Yang Bangquan, a practitioner from Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, was arrested in June 2000 in Guangzhou City and sentenced to four and a half years of imprisonment. She was held in Yangjiang City's Prison for brainwashing. Practitioner Mr. Xue Jun was arrested in July 2002 in Guangzhou City and held on the notorious Chatou Island for two years of forced labor.

The two were released this year, but personnel from the local "610 Office," the street administration committee and the local police station came to their homes again and again, interrupting their normal lives. They curtailed their normal work and even prohibited them from leaving home. These two practitioners left home again because of the repeated, senseless harassment and persecution.

The local police then conspired with the police in Guangzhou City to harass the practitioners' relatives in Guangzhou City. They threatened the relatives by telling them that their children wouldn't be allowed to attend school if they didn't tell police Yang Bangquan's current work place and telephone number.

On September 17, 2004 policeman Jia Hongfu and others from the National Security Team of the No. 2 Police Station in Qian'an County arrested Ms. Zhou Guizhi. The policemen ransacked Zhou Guizhi's home and confiscated the Falun Dafa founder's lecture books. They carried Zhou Guizhi into a police car by force. Zhou Guizhi said loudly, "Falun Dafa Is Great! Arresting good people is violating the law!"

Zhou Guizhi was held in Qian'an County's Detention Center for not giving up the cultivation practice. She was sentenced to two years of forced labor and sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Ms. Liu Shengping, 52 years old, was arrested as she went out to mail letters in March 2004. Personnel from the Xicheng District Police Department were responsible. She was then sent to Xicheng District's Detention Center. During the detention, three policemen injured her fingers when they were trying to force her to leave her fingerprints. She can't wash her clothes and the pain extended to her shoulder. The pain was intolerably severe at night. She reported this to the warden of the center but was brushed off. Xicheng People's District Court recently sentenced Liu Shengping to two and a half years of imprisonment by Xicheng District People's Court. She is appealing.

The Yantang Corporation in the Tianhe District of Guangzhou City had posters slandering Falun Dafa in their display window. Personnel from the Xinghua Street Administration Committee and Yantang Corporation's Disciplinary Committee worked together to set up the display. On October 23, 2004, practitioner Li Li came to clean up the posters in the display window. Authorities from the Xinghua Street Police Station detained Li Li for 15 days.
