Assisting Fellow Practitioners to Step Forward from Emotional Constraints
(Clearwisdom.net) For some time, many practitioners in our midst had been severely confounded by emotions. They could not step forward at all, were engulfed by difficulties and could not progress. For example:
1. The husband of practitioner A had continuously objected to her practicing cultivation, especially after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. Because A went to Beijing to appeal, she was beaten up and forced to leave home. Later, the husband died and, before he passed away, he was still cursing Dafa. After his death, practitioner A bitterly regretted that she had not made enough effort to save her husband. She constantly dreamt of him, and felt as if she were in a trance and could not study the Fa. She was not only unable to practice the exercises, but she was even incapable of taking part in clarifying the facts about Falun Dafa.
2. B and his wife are Dafa practitioners, but he constantly looked down on his wife, as he had the impression that his wife was not a true practitioner. He actually was not very proficient either, since he could not even finish reading one chapter of the book Zhuan Falun in a few days. He stopped practicing the exercises too. Consequently, his body showed the appearance of illness karma. No matter how his wife tried to persuade him, it did not change him. His condition gradually deteriorated.
3. C is an elderly female practitioner with two sons and daughters-in-law conducting their businesses away from home. She looked after the grandchildren by herself. A month ago, the elder son divorced his wife because of interference by a third party. The younger son sustained losses in his business. Because of these immense pressures on her, her normal cultivation was greatly affected.
Observing that their fellow practitioners were facing tribulations for long periods of time, the local practitioners became very anxious. Everyone then began to send forth righteous thoughts on the hour to clear the interference with the practitioners, yet few results were immediately evident.
After Teacher's Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference was published, and from studying the Fa, everyone realized that to depend on sending forth righteous thoughts alone would not solve the basic problem of the interference with the practitioners. We had to help them to understand the problems from the viewpoint of the Fa and to untie the knots in their hearts, as is clearly stated by Teacher thus:
"If he himself isn't rational, whatever we do amounts to nothing. Sending righteous thoughts can eliminate what's outside him but not what's inside his mind. Whatever a person wants to do comes from a single thought of his -- it's he who decides if he wants something or not. When this situation occurs, I think there has to be a knot in his mind that stems from attachments. If he's really not able to do it, you can go and help him. There's no problem with doing that. Try to help him understand things on the basis of the Fa-truths and by studying the Fa more." (From Explaining the Fa During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference)
Then, the other practitioners looked for those in trouble, assisted them in understanding the problems on the basis of the Fa, and helped them to look within themselves. At the same time, everyone sent forth righteous thoughts collectively to eliminate the external interference. A definite condition was then established: Those practitioners were encouraged to step forward to clarify the facts.
Now, practitioner A and practitioner C have both freed themselves from the constraints of their emotions, and have regained their normal conditions of cultivation. Practitioner B is also progressing in the right direction.
