Practitioner Ms. Sun Yongmei, 31 years old, was an employee at Shiyan City's Women Alliance. On October 17, 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, clarifying the truth in the Tiananmen Square. Ms. Sun was later illegally sentenced to three years of imprisonment and is now held in the No. 2 Sub-division of No.2 Detention Division in Wuhan City's Women Prison. The address is 81 Baofeng Road, Shiqiaokou District, Wuhan City. The prison authorities provide her only a small amount of food each day, but force her to do over ten hours of heavy work. She has lost weight and become extremely thin. As a result of suffering long-term persecution and excruciating torture her body has bruises everywhere. Because she has refused to compromise with the evil, new personnel have been assigned to torture her even more severely.

A little while ago a local practitioner told me that police had abducted a fellow practitioner who used the Internet. He was later released, as police didn't have sufficient evidence to charge him, but the police installed a program on his computer to monitor his online activities. As a result, the practitioner was arrested later when he went online.

On April 6th, several Dafa practitioners from Hulan County held an experience-sharing meeting. Some practitioners left after the meeting, and some stayed. Soon afterward, a police car arrived. The police took away the five Dafa practitioners who hadn't left the room and also arrested another practitioner from his home.

A newly built prison has been completed about 30 miles from Harbin City, and it is currently holding 16 Dafa practitioners. The prison is at the site of the former Gezhi Prison. Most of them are from Harbin City and the subordinate counties. Their terms range from three to ten years. The prison separated the practitioners into different teams for strict surveillance. Practitioners who refuse to renounce their belief are not allowed family visits. Everyday Dafa practitioners are forced to do heavy labor alongside the criminal prisoners, and are often body searched and physically punished.

Toward the end of October, 2002, prior to the 16^th National Party Congress, people from the Hefei City "610 Office"* and local police precincts arrested scores of practitioners, either at their homes, from their workplaces, or in the streets. They were first detained at secret interrogation rooms or hotels. Policemen from the No. 1 Division of the Hefei City Police Department took turns to brutally extort confessions from practitioners for a very long period of time without any breaks. In addition, they also ransacked practitioners' homes. Afterwards, practitioners were sent to a detention center.

According to internal sources from the Hefei City Police Department, policemen's bonuses and promotions are directly tied to how many Falun Gong "cases" they have handled. To get promoted and earn a larger bonus, some policemen in the No. 1 Division applied various methods to torture practitioners in an attempt to find the source of Dafa truth-clarifying materials. We have heard that policemen often abused, beat, and threatened practitioners Mr. Li Gangfeng, Mr. Bi Xiaojun, Ms. Wen Yan, Ms. Zhang Lingzhi, and Ms. Yang Jingfang while in detention. They withheld food from these practitioners and handcuffed their hands to the backs of metal seats used for interrogation, leaving them this way for one to three months.The practitioners were made to endure long-term sleep deprivation and they experienced edema and dizziness. The handcuffs cut deeply into their swollen flesh, creating serious injuries. While this continued, the policemen brought in some former Falun Gong practitioners who had gone astray due to brainwashing and torture. These former practitioners attempted to destroy the practitioners' righteous beliefs with lies and deceit.
