Honorable Phillip Ruddock Immigration Minister:

The Department of Immigrations has decided to deport the above-mentioned Falun Gong practitioners to China but on incorrect grounds. In addition they have been misunderstood because of language problems. Please postpone the deportations immediately because all Falun Gong practitioners are so severely persecuted in China.

The decision was motivated by incorrect assertions that Mr. Wang would not be of any interest to the authorities of he practices Falun Gong in private and he was able to travel to China in 1998, 1999 and 2001 without incident.

In China today hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners - young and old, men and women - are sent to labour camps and as of today 610 ordinary Falun Gong practitioners have been tortured to deaths. In view of the stringent controlled of the media, it is feared that the actual death toll is very much higher. We know of at least 20 victims with relationship to Australian Citizens. The persecution started in July 1999 and Mr. Wang and his family and relatives were immediately persecuted. He managed to escape from China in 2001 after severe harassment by the police.

Please allow Mr. and Mrs. Wang to have the benefit of the doubt and review the case again.

Your immediate intervention is most respectfully requested to save the lives of an elderly couple who sought religious asylum in Australia.

Mr. Wang Juntao, 66 and Ms. Wang Liluan, 62 are due for deportation to their oppressors after their application for a visa was repeatedly rejected. There has been some misunderstanding that may have resulted in the decision to deport her on incorrect grounds.

This unfortunate couple has suffered brutal persecution while in China for practicing Falun Gong and luckily made it to Australia alive to tell the tragic story. Sending them back to China is like sentencing them to a life of harassment, prison, torture or even death.
