(Clearwisdom.net) On August 5, the U.S. Congressional-Executive Commission on China held an "Open Forum on Human Rights and Rule of Law in China" in the Senate. A Falun Gong practitioner from the field of academia who spoke at the forum urged the U.S. leaders to pay close attention to the ongoing false accusations and unjust trial against 16 Falun Gong practitioners in Hong Kong, and suggested that the Executive Commission urge the Hong Kong government and police to immediately stop the political trial against these innocent practitioners.

After giving an account of the facts of the Hong Kong incident, the Falun Gong practitioner pointed out that this sham trial has raised concerns from the international community about the erosion of the "one country, two systems" policy in Hong Kong. People have realized that pressure from Jiang to restrict Falun Gong in Hong Kong is jeopardizing a once-proud legacy of freedom and a just legal system.

"The very existence of this trial signifies the denial of the rule of law in the Hong Kong SAR," the Falun Gong practitioner said, "It marks the arrival of 'rule of Jiang' and the departure of the rule of law."

During the Q&A session of the forum, the Falun Gong practitioner indicated further that the root of the problems that have been happening in China, including Hong Kong, is the Jiang regime's carrying out the program of state terrorism against its own citizens. The dictatorship can arbitrarily override the nation's Constitution and existing laws, and can even manufacture bogus so-called "laws" to justify and cover up what is by any account illegal and criminal behavior. Meanwhile, Jiang's regime tries hard to export its terror and pressures governments and peoples of democratic societies, compromising their democratic values and moral principles.

A number of representatives from various human rights groups in the U.S. and some individuals spoke at the forum. Several dozen interested parties and media were in the audience.
