In a senate hearing held by the Committee of Human Rights Protection and Facilitation in the Italian Congress on July 23, 2002, regarding the freedoms of speech and religion, Falun Gong spokesman Mr. Zhang Erping explained the persecution of Faun Gong practitioners in China. A representative from the human rights organization "Hands Off Cain" also gave an account of the suppression of Christians in China, and the problem for freedom of religion in that country. The chairman of the Committee, Mr. Pianetta, attended the hearing together with three senators.
