Statement by Physicians for Human Rights on the Persecution of Falun Gong

There are many revolting human rights abuses in the world. But there are none more despicable than a government punishing people for their thoughts and peacefully expressed religious [spiritual] views. The Chinese government's persecution of the Falun Gong has earned it a disgraceful place in the world.

Letter from Congressman Dennis Moore of Kansas to Washington DC Rally

July 23, 2002

Dear Falun Gong Practitioners and Supporters:

Thank you for inviting me to speak at this important event. Please accept my apology for not appearing in person.

I am deeply troubled by China's lack of respect for basic human rights, and I commend all of you for your efforts to focus attention on the plight of religious minorities in China. China will never gain the respect it desires until it ceases its persecution of Falun Gong and other religious minorities. As you know, the Chinese government views Falun Gong and its nearly 70 million members worldwide as a threat to its hold on power. The government's ruthless repression of Falun Gong has resulted in the imprisonment and torture of thousands of practitioners over the past three years.

Letter from Congressman Charles Gonzalez of Texas to Washington DC Rally

July 23, 2002

Dear Falun Gong Practitioners:

I am deeply concerned over the Chinese government's ongoing persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. As you know, this persecution has been going on since the government outlawed its practice in July, 1999. Reports have been received that the Chinese government has harassed, jailed and tortured practitioners for refusing to quit the practice of Falun Gong.

I Fear No Hardship on My Path

(Clearwisdom.net)

Although I was fully aware of the consequences of speaking the truth (in China), I went to Beijing in June 2001 for the sake of others' welfare, and the country's future. In Beijing I raised a banner high above my head that said "Falun Dafa is Good" and shouted out with all my strength, "Falun Dafa is Good!" on June 23, 2001. Around five or six plainclothes police officers dragged me to their vehicle, and the police inside stepped on my head. I told him that arresting people without a reason is illegal. What I received back was an even harder stamp on my head, and cursing, while they took me to the Tiananmen police station.
