By the 2002 Spring Festival, the police in Nongan County had illegally arrested more than 30 practitioners. After the Spring Festival, they illegally sentenced two groups of the arrested practitioners, including Dong Renhua and Wang Shuhua. After the March 5 Changchun cable TV network incident, the police of Nongan County abducted at least 10 practitioners, including Liu Lin, Lan Yan, Chen Liguo, Cui, and Liu Xiaojie. In the small county of Nongan, more than 230 practitioners have been illegally sentenced to forced labor camp terms since July 20, 1999. Former director of Political and Security Section Liu Shangkuan extorted a few hundred thousand Yuan [Chinese currency. The average monthly salary of an urban worker in China is about 500 Yuan, but only 200 Yuan for a rural worker.] from the practitioners and members of their families.

On March 19, 2002, the Laizhou City Court secretly sentenced practitioner Yang Guogang, Wang Xiuchan, and Yang Yujun to jail terms of 8 years, 4 years, and 3 years respectively. The sentences were given without following proper legal procedures.

Practitioner Zhang Yunhe (from Qingdao, wife of practitioner Zou Songtao, who was tortured to death in Shandong Province) is currently detained in female cell No. 8 of Dashan Detention Center in Qingdao City. Zhang was arrested and detained for sharing experiences with 7 other practitioners at a Dafa conference.

On the night of March 5, in more than 10 cities and counties of Jilin Province, including Changchun, Songyuan, Dehui, and Tonghua, the cable television network suddenly broadcast Falun Gong truth-clarifying programs. Many people who had been deceived by the government's propaganda finally woke up to the truth. People with kind hearts and senses of justice realized that the "Focus" program of CCTV has long been a tool of Jiang's regime, which was used to deceive people and slander Falun Gong. Being exposed, Jiang became furious. He gave the order to "kill them without mercy" and instigated the police to shoot while making arrests. In Songyuan City, some perpetrators of the "610" Office, [Note: The "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems] city government and party committees, police departments, community offices, and police stations wildly arrested practitioners for personal gain. They also slandered the practitioners by making up stories of Dafa practitioners "setting themselves on fire," "poisoning others," and "abducting young children." According to incomplete statistics, over 300 practitioners have been abducted in Songyuan City since March 5, and many other practitioners have disappeared.

Since Luo Gan gave the order: "strict enforcing for 6 months," (the true goal is to persecute Falun Gong) Shijiazhuang City has spent a huge amount of money to recruit 6,000 security guards. Zhao Shiju, Vice Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, further ordered all areas of Hebei Province to recruit security guards before June 2002.

A few days ago, Bin County Police Department teamed up with the local "610" Office and used 20 police vehicles and at least 70 police staff to arrest practitioners in Ningyuan Town. Seventeen practitioners, including the 3 people in Ju Jinglan's family and He Yuhong, were arrested. The police ransacked the practitioners' homes and even searched the sheds and vegetable cellars. People said in private, "Where is reason and justice now? The communist party is destroying itself."

In the brainwashing classes in Chatou, some people who have "enlightened" along evil paths help and persecute the practitioners by spreading their "understandings." Currently, six of these perpetrators help to watch and torture the 18 detained practitioners in the brainwashing class. Among the six people, Li Binghui is the worst. Many of the detained practitioners are college teachers and company engineers, and most of them were suddenly abducted by the police and the local community offices. A female practitioner named Lu has been on a hunger strike for over 20 days; the persecutors force-feed her every day. Another practitioner named Liu Xiaojing fainted on the day she arrived at the brainwashing class; she is in a hospital now.

We suggest that all practitioners in the Guangzhou area send forth righteous thoughts every hour to eliminate the last evil and the chief wretch. Falun Gong assistant Liu (from Jitou Town, Wuhou District of Chengdu City) was arrested and detained last year. The police kept transferring Liu to different places in order to hide their crimes. Assistant Zheng Youmei was illegally sent to a forced labor camp. Shortly after her release, the police arrested her again and forced her into a brainwashing class. There were 10 to 20 practitioners detained in the brainwashing class, and they received brutal torture: in winter, the police guards stripped Liu's clothes and forced him/her to stand outside in the freezing weather. When the practitioners protested by going on a hunger strike, the guards became furious and force-fed them brutally. The perpetrators also immediately beat the practitioners whenever they noticed the practitioners were practicing the exercise movements, studying Fa, or not obeying the "rules." One of the perpetrators even said, "If you don't cooperate with me, I will teach you a lesson!"

Recently, some practitioners in Weifang City were arrested, and their whereabouts are unknown. Some truth-clarifying material sites were also destroyed, and much has been lost. We hope that practitioners who have seen this message send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate all evil beings that persecute Dafa and save as many people as possible.

While distributing truth-clarifying fliers, practitioner Wang Yanguo was arrested by the local police at a farm in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Although the persecutors fiercely tortured Wang, he refused to cooperate with them. The persecutors then transferred Wang to Baying Police station, where they brutally tortured him again to force him to tell the source of the truth-clarifying materials. Wang was tortured to the point that his body was covered with scars; yet he still refused to cooperate with the evil. His whereabouts are unknown. Someone said that the perpetrators would sentence him to a heavy jail term. We call for kind people and international human rights organizations to pay attention to this situation.

Since July 20, 1999, Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp has detained many Dafa practitioners. The persecutors in the labor camp have been torturing the solid practitioners and brutally force-feeding the practitioners on hunger strikes.

In July 2001, practitioner Li Xiurong was arrested while she was clarifying the truth to people on the street. The persecutors then sentenced her to 3 years in a forced labor camp. During her 9-month detention, Li firmly cultivated Dafa and refused to cooperate with the evil. Ten days after she started a hunger strike, Li was in critical condition. The persecutors sent her to the Emergency Room of a hospital, where Li Xiurong escaped with the help of her righteous mind.

The labor camp blocked the information and secretly hunted for Li. They also forced Li's family members to tell them the names of practitioners that Li has been contacting, and then wildly started arresting people. When they heard that practitioner Wang Shuxin knew Li Xiurong, they knocked on Wang's door crazily. Finally, they pried open the door and arrested Wang. It is believed that they also took the refrigerator and TV.

Around 7 PM on January 22, 2002, 15 practitioners detained in Nongan Detention Center and 8 inmates in the same cell saw a miraculous scene: the moon was actually a big lotus flower; its outside petals were red, and its inside petals were pink. The lotus flower was extremely beautiful. The petals glowed with beautiful, fresh light as if they were breathing. The 23 people took turns looking at the flower through the small window until it disappeared. The beauty was beyond words. The practitioners felt that the scene was an encouragement from Teacher.

Liang Yeqian is a reporter for the Reference News newspaper (owned by Xinhua News Agency) who works in Geneva. Liang wrote an article slandering Falun Gong. The article was published on page 11 of Reference News on April 18, 2002.

Some people who have "enlightened" along evil paths in Xinjiang Autonomous Region wildly persecute practitioners in forced labor camps. These people include:

Wulumuqi Area: Li Jiaoling, Luo Dan, Jin Meifang, Liang Keli;

Shihezi Area: Yu Muyan, Zhan Ying;

Shawan Area: Ju Zaiping;

Yili Area: Yang Min;

Hetian Area: Fu Liping.

The jealousy and show-off mentalities of these people are used by the evil. They help the labor camp guards to torture the detained practitioners with methods such as forcing them to stand still for long periods of time, not allowing them to sleep, and shocking with electric batons. Fu Liping even shocked the practitioners herself with electric batons in one forced labor camp; and she also suggested using the electric batons to torture the practitioners while she was visiting other labor camps while on a "brainwashing" trip. Li Jiaoling has viciously instigated the inmates to torture practitioners using many types of brutal measures.
