Falun Dafa Practitioner Huang Zhiyi from Gansu Province Is Tortured to Death

Huang Zhiyi, a 60 year-old male, was a retired employee of Northwest Aluminum Factory. Huang was illegally detained in the detention center after he made an appeal for Falun Gong in Beijing. He was also tortured in a brainwashing class. Huang was constantly harassed and threatened by the police after he was released from the detention center. Huang had become very healthy from practicing Falun Gong. However, his heart disease reoccurred due to torture, harassment and persecution by the police. Huang suddenly died on January 19^th, 2002.

Falun Gong Practitioners' Statement on Shenli Lin's Release

Shenli Lin had been imprisoned for over two years, while his wife Jinyu, without news from him, kept a constant vigil, tirelessly appealing for his release. Their case is not unusual: tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally sentenced to terms of detention in labour camps, detention centers, or prisons, and, like Shenli, subjected to arbitrary extensions to their sentences.

Foley, the chief of the Vatican Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Taiwan president Chen Shui-Bian pointed out that there have been no religious wars in the history of the Republic of China [Taiwan] and that its citizens possess the right of religious freedom. Therefore, Falun Gong in Taiwan is neither a [Jiang's slanderous word omitted] nor a crime.
