(Clearwisdom.net) I think the practitioners who can put aside life and death and step forward to go on hunger strikes are really remarkable. However, when I read in their statements their intentions to: "...go on hunger strike indefinitely until 130 fellow practitioners on hunger strike in Masanjia (labor camp) are all unconditionally released..." I am afraid I hold different view.
To "Clarify the truth thoroughly, eliminate the evil with righteous thoughts, save all beings, and safeguard the Fa with determination." ("Dafa is Indestructible") is the great duty-bound mission and responsibility of Dafa disciples inside and outside of China at present.
"Validate the Fa with reason, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and offer people salvation with benevolence." ("Rationality")
The old forces of the universe that hinder Fa-rectification and the evil beings that are being manipulated, including Jiang Zemin, are in the final stages of being eliminated. Therefore, I believe we should stress achieving the objective of actively and positively clarifying the truth to the world's people. Extreme measures such as indefinite hunger strikes undertaken by overseas practitioners are thus not recommended. However, hunger strike relays and walk relays are acceptable, because they not only touch people's hearts, but also help to bring every practitioner's capacity into full play, thus transcending the limitation of the individual.
"Stepping forward to validate the Fa in various ways is a magnificent deed, but this absolutely does not mean that you have to be arrested by the evil. If that were the case, why would those students who step forward to make appeals demand the release of all those innocent students who have been arrested, detained, sent to labor camps, or sentenced to jail? Getting arrested is not the purpose. Validating Dafa is truly glorious--it is to validate Dafa that you step forward. Since you step forward, you should try to succeed in validating the Fa--this is the real purpose of stepping forward." ("Rationality")
Sending forth righteous thoughts, holding peaceful sit-ins in front of the Chinese consulates, going on limited hunger strikes, using every opportunity to distribute truth-clarifying literature, taking SOS Urgent Rescue walks, proactively clarifying the truth to all governments, institutions, social organizations, mass media, etc., are all expressions of Dafa practitioners' fully playing the role of Dafa particles. "Every person you come into contact with in society is someone to clarify the truth to, and what's manifest in clarifying the truth is Dafa disciples' mercy and salvation of the people of the world." ("To All Students at the Nordic Fa Conference")
My personal understanding is that only when the world's people know the truth, and the whole society on its own accord stands up against all evils, will the evils be eliminated. Therefore, clarifying the truth is not a simple matter. It should not consist of short-term, extreme actions taken by individuals; instead, clarifying the truth should comprehensively and thoroughly break through the layers upon layers of obstacles arranged by the old evil forces that hinder the Fa-rectification in the Three Realms, and eradicate the evil forces in the dimensions not yet reached by the Fa-rectification.
"At present, the places where the evil is able to do bad things, though, are places that have not been reached by the Fa-rectification's massive changing-force. These are exactly the places where Dafa disciples' righteous thoughts take effect, although the state of things in these places is also extremely complicated and degenerate." ("The Effect of Righteous Thoughts")
All forms of Fa-rectification plus all the magnificence and sacredness arising from the sweeping through of Fa-rectification's immense force are created by Master and the great Buddha Law, not by any individual actions. Let's discard human notions, and regard and participate in everything of Fa-rectification with equally lofty hearts.
