Heartfelt Wishes of a Young Woman Hunger Striking for Justice in Washington DC
(ClearWisdom Net) My name is Jinwei Wang. I am 19 years old. After reading the book Zhuan Falun, I came to understand the real meaning of life. So I know that I should cherish my life. However, at the same time I also understand that other people's lives are just as valuable as mine. I have come to know the greatness of "Truth, Compassion, Forbearance" and the magnificence of the Truth. When Jiang Zemin's regime used lies to cover up "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance" for the past two years, I used all my capabilities in activities such as silently appealing in front of the Japanese Embassy for 9 days and 9 nights, going back to China, and writing letters to the leaders in the Central Government, etc. As I was doing all of the above, I came to realize that more and more bad news kept coming from my home country. The persecution of those who uphold "Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance" has been constantly escalating. When I heard that over 263 Falun Gong practitioners had been killed during the persecution, I was driven beyond the limits of my forbearance. On August 13, my Mom and I began a 263-hour continuous sit-in appeal in front of the Chinese Embassy in Washington DC. But within these few short days, there was more bad news about 130 practitioners who began a hunger strike in order to fight for their right to live. Without any other means to help these valuable lives, my Mom and I decided to go on a hunger strike to appeal.
During this period of our hunger strike, sometimes I felt weak. But at that moment, I would hear the final cries for help from the 15 female and 10 male Falun Gong practitioners who were murdered in my hometown of Harbin.
As of now, my classmate's Mother is still enduring brutal torture in that prison which has killed so many Falun Gong practitioners. I could see through my classmate's eyes that he was looking forward to going to school, but instead, because he firmly believes in Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance, he too remains handcuffed in prison. Also, in that moment, I could hear the cries of that 8-month old baby whose Mother was tortured to death. I could hear the nervous voice of my aunt telling me that the police were interrogating her-- a non-practitioner-- because her sister practices Falun Gong. Also, I could see the 130 hunger striking practitioners in Masanjia being pulled out of their cells, beaten, and forcefully tube-fed through their noses. I could hear their desperate voices asking for basic human rights and for their persecutors to have some respect for human life. And I could see that thousands and thousands of Dafa practitioners are being arrested, beaten, sent to labor camps, and even tortured to death. There is only one voice saying, "Restore the reputation of 'Truth, Compassion, and Forbearance.'" And again, at that moment, I could see those evil beings who are slandering our respectful and benevolent Teacher.
My heart is bleeding. I don't know how to help them. Hunger strike and appeal, this is the only thing I can do now. I know that my voice is only one dot (among the group), and what I am doing now can only count as a little bit. If every one on the earth, just like individual dots, can send out the voice of justice and reach out with a hand to help, then these individual, scattered dots will converge into a force for justice that will be irresistible. It will bring the sad story now taking place in China to an end quickly, because the power of kindness is unlimited.
