My Experience in the Futian Labor Camp Proves the Impossibility of a Group Suicide

(Clearwisdom.net) On June 20th, 15 female Falun Gong practitioners died in Wanjia Labor Camp. Upon hearing the sad news, I felt as if ten thousand arrows were piercing through my heart.
Jiang's clique said this was a case of suicide, which is just like a murderer who tries to clean his slaughter knife using the blood of the victims. However, the more they try to hide, the more they are exposed, and the more people can see how shameless they are.
On December 15, 1999, I myself was arrested in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province for practicing Falun Gong. I was locked in west Cell 11 in the Futian Labor Camp for 13 days. The following is a brief description of what I experienced there.
When we entered the cell, we were ordered to take off all our clothes for a body search. All our belongings had to be turned in to the camp, including basic personal items such as mirrors, combs, hair clips, shoes, glasses, scarves, gloves and any other things that might be used for self injury. A monitoring system, which can keep an eye on every spot, was hung high up in the cell. In addition, Falun Gong practitioners were under the watch of other prisoners who lived in the same cell. There were no windows in the cells except for several air holes with iron bars in a very high place. During the day, we were forced to labor under the watch of the camp guards. At night, someone was on duty from bedtime until it was time to get up. In addition, camp guards would come to inspect each cell one time per hour. There was only one toilet for the whole cell to share. Once one stood up from the toilet, she would be exposed to the eyes of the monitor.
When family members came to visit and brought some things with them, the camp would casually take away anything they wanted at will, in the name of not allowing any hard things into the cells. When someone was released, not a single piece of paper was allowed to be taken out as a precautionary measure. Just as Chinese officials said, the labor camp is an institution of the proletarian dictatorship. Everything is under close inspection and monitoring. Therefore, it is impossible that 15 women could have committed suicide in their cells.
Moreover, a cell can only temporarily lock a Falun Gong practitioner's body. It can never lock Falun Gong practitioners' heart. We came here for the sake of "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance," how could we give up "Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance" and destroy our own life?
