[Minghui Net] Ren Pengwu was a staff member at the 3^rd Power Plant in Harbin, Hulan County, Heilongjiang Province. He was 32 years old, held a Bachelor's Degree, and was a Falun Gong practitioner. On the evening of Feb. 6, 2001, Ren Pengwu, Sun Yuhua and other practitioners were arrested while distributing Falun Gong materials. They were fiercely beaten at the Police Department and suffered from other brutal torture. Ren Pengwu was tortured to death on the evening of Feb. 20, 2001. This was four days after he was arrested.

To cover up this vicious murder, the Police Department tried to deceive the public by fabricating a 'legal medical report' claiming that practitioner Ren had died from heart disease. They thought that by doing so they could escape from legal sanctions. According to inside information, the practitioners, including Sun Yuhua, who were arrested with Ren that night have been tortured and beaten so severely that their lives are also in danger now. The Police Department is in fear of this information leaking out and has taken measures to shut down all the possible channels.

Ren Pengwu is a well-known good person, both in his work unit and in the community. The practitioners clearly understood what they would be facing if caught distributing materials revealing the truth of Falun Gong under the current harsh persecution of Falun Gong. But, they are practitioners who have benefited from Falun Gong, they are people who know the truth of Falun Gong, they are people who know Jiang Zemin and his followers' brutal persecution of Falun Gong and its practitioners is illegal and all that the charges against Falun Gong are fabricated. Lies and deceit cannot stand in the face of real practitioners, but they confuse and mislead those ordinary people who do not know the truth of Falun Gong; these lies damage the future of our country and its people. Worst of all, this fierce and inhuman torture and persecution have brutally destroyed the natural kindness of people and has devastated some people's morality. These practitioners risked their lives to distribute these materials wishing more people could know the truth of Dafa; their behavior was purely for the consideration of others! This is the most generous and magnificent behavior of benevolence. What they did is based on the free belief and free speech that the constitution permits. They did not break the law. They are innocent.

The persecution of Falun Gong in our county is devastating everyday. Since Chinese New Year, more than 30 practitioners have been illegally sent to labor camps because they firmly believe in Dafa. The government took more serious actions against these practitioners. The families of practitioners have been punished; every practitioner has been forced to sign the "three pledge letters" of not practicing, not appealing and not revealing the truth, and at the same time, has to pay some amount of money as bail. Those who do not comply will be arrested and locked up at the Police Department. All officials from lowest to highest have had to sign "guarantee" letters. More than 70 practitioners have been illegally arrested and detained since the Chinese New Year. They have not been released. More than 20 practitioners have had to leave their homes and stay outside. Those practitioners who were arrested are currently on a hunger strike to protest against this illegal treatment.

In the public, under every person's eyes, those people who are supposed to enforce the law break the laws-- they kill innocent people without taking any responsibility for their murder; where is the righteousness in this world? What is the human's nature? Kind-hearted people, wake up! Let us appeal together for the righteous, help stop the vicious persecution and reveal the truth as it is.
