(Minghui.org) An 88-year-old woman in Chongqing was secretly sentenced to prison between March and June 2026, for her faith in Falun Gong. Ms. Zhu Yugui is now serving time in the Zouma Women’s Prison.
Ms. Zhu’s ordeal stemmed from her arrest in March 2023, along with Ms. Huang Lyubin, Ms. Tan Ping, Ms. Zeng Shangjing, and Ms. Liu. Officers from the Yangjiaping Police Station suspected them of using paper currency with Falun Gong information printed on the bills at the New Century Mall. The women’s homes were ransacked.
While Ms. Zhu was soon released, the other four practitioners were sentenced to prison. Ms. Huang was given eight years and four months, and Ms. Tan received three years and three months. Ms. Zeng and Ms. Liu’s prison terms are unknown.
Due to this incident, many local Falun Gong practitioners were harassed, followed, and had their homes ransacked between March and May 2023.
Terrified by the arrest, Ms. Zhu struggled with failing health after her release. Yet the authorities still sentenced her to prison three years later. Details about her prosecution are unclear.
Prior to her latest persecution episode, Ms. Zhu was harassed by the authorities in October 2020 and ordered to write statements renouncing Falun Gong. When she refused to comply, the police forced her adopted son to throw her out of his home, leaving her homeless.
