(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 9 cities or counties in 6 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Ms. Chen Yunxia, Ms. Fang Qing’e, and Ms. Wang Taimei, have been sentenced to prison, and are currently being held in the Zhangdian Detention Center, awaiting the results of their appeals.
Mr. Lou Jindong and Ms. Yan Chunxiang were arrested while studying Falun Gong books together on the evening of August 3, 2026, by officers from the Shuangshanzi Police Station and the Zushan Town Police Station. Mr. Lou was released the next day. Ms. Yan remains detained at the Qinglong County Detention Center.
Ms. Chen Jie was arrested by Hezuo Road Police Station officers on the afternoon of August 12, 2026, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Officer Liu Chang beat her in the police station, causing bruises on her left wrist. She was given a 14-day detention, but was denied admission due to her poor health. She was released the following afternoon.
Mr. Peng Shiguo was arrested at his barbershop on August 8, 2026, by officers from the Xinzhai Town Police Station. He was detained for seven days at the Linqu County Lockup.
Mr. Yu Dekai was arrested on May 27, 2026, while talking to people about Falun Gong at Shuangshanzi Market. He was detained for 14 days.
Ms. Gui Lan was harassed at home by officer Ma Liansheng from the Heguan Town Police Station on August 2, 2026. Ma took photos of her her without her permission.
Ms. Tong Shuying, Ms. Wang Youmei, Ms. Wu Guihong, Ms. Lin Qinghong, Ms. Guo Lizhen, and her husband, Mr. Tao Lei, were arrested on April 15, 2026.
Ms. Tong, Ms. Wang, and Ms. Wu were detained for 45 days. Their arrests have been approved by the Xinzhou District Procuratorate.
Ms. Lin was detained for an unknown period of time. She has been harassed by local neighborhood committee personnel after being released.
Ms. Guo and Mr. Tao were detained for 15 days, then transferred to a brainwashing center. Ms. Guo was released between late July and early August 2026. Mr. Tao’s current situation is unclear.
Ms. Xiao Huiqun was arrested at home on April 16, 2026. The police confiscated her computer, printer, and informational materials about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Changjiang New District Police Department, then released on a one-year bail due to her pregnancy.
Ms. Li Rongju was released from Shandong Province Women’s Prison in late July 2026, after serving a one-year term.
Ms. Li Dongzhi, in her 70s and a retired employee of Hanshou Aquatic Products Company, was arrested on November 30, 2023, during a police sweep. She was sentenced to four years with a 6,000-yuan fine on November 12, 2025. Due to her epilepsy and severe diabetes, she was released on bail shortly after the conviction.
Ms. Li was arrested again in June 2026, for talking to people about Falun Gong. She was first held in the Qimin Police Station, then taken to a local hospital. In retaliation for her continued effort to raise awareness about the persecution in the hospital, the authorities took her to the Hunan Province Women’s Prison shortly after to serve the four-year term.
Since Ms. Chen Xitao was admitted to the Heilongjiang Province Women’s Prison on May 26, 2022, to serve a 6.5-year term, she has remained at the training division and been subjected to various torture methods. Guards and inmates threw away her personal clothes and shoes and forced her to wear an inmate uniform. She was also forced to wear her sports shoes, even when showering, because she was not given a pair of slippers.
