(Minghui.org) The Daoli District Court in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, notified Mr. Gu Fubao’s family in mid-May 2026 that he was sentenced to one year and ten months because he practices Falun Gong. They went to the Hulan Prison on May 18 but were told to wait until July 18 to see him because the prison was undergoing “renovation.”

Mr. Gu, who resides in Daowai District, was arrested on July 15, 2025, while distributing Falun Gong informational materials in Nangang District. The police raided his home when no one was there. They confiscated dozens of Falun Gong books and other items.

Mr. Gu’s family returned home to see things in disarray. They reported the “break-in” to police and were told that their loved one had been arrested. They were referred to officer Sun (+86-13339419666) from the Nangang District Police Department.

Officer Sun threatened to sentence Mr. Gu to prison and lied to his family that he was held at the Xiangfang District Detention Center.

The family went to the detention center on August 22, 2025, but he was not there. They turned to Sun, who said that Mr. Gu was actually held at the Nangang District Detention Center. They went there on August 25, 2025, and deposited money into his commissary account.

Mr. Gu was transferred to the Daoli District Detention Center on September 12, 2025. The Daoli District Court heard his case around December 5, 2025. A court-appointed lawyer entered a guilty plea for him. The judge accused Mr. Gu of failing to “admit his guilt” during the hearing and said a second hearing would be scheduled later.

Mr. Gu’s family was not notified of the second hearing. They just knew that he was still in the Daoli District Detention Center around January 16, 2026. Judge Gao called them in mid-May 2026 to say that Mr. Gu had been sentenced to one year and ten months and sent to Hulan Prison.
