(Minghui.org) A woman in Baoding City, Hebei Province, was arrested for attaching “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good” stickers on an ornamental column (stele) in her home.
Over 10 officers from the Laiyuan County Police Department knocked on Ms. Hou Manyun’s door around 7 a.m. on June 12, 2026. They accused her of “making cult promotional materials” and insisted she let them in. After a 30-minute standoff, they broke the lock and forced their way in.
Ms. Hou was taken to the basement of the Laiyuan County Police Department and interrogated. Another group of officers raided her home. They confiscated her computer, printer, and cell phone, and tore down all the Falun Gong-themed decorations and paintings in her home.
During the interrogation, an officer said to Ms. Hou, “You are the only one in Laiyuan County who dares to display words about Falun Gong.”
The police took Ms. Hou to the Baoding City Detention Center that evening, but she was denied admission due to health issues. When they released her the next afternoon, they said to her, “This isn’t over yet. You aren’t allowed to have any Falun Gong-related posters or stickers at home. Cover them with paper. We will check up on this whenever we feel like it.”
Prior to her latest harassment episode, Ms. Hou has been repeatedly targeted since the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. She was arrested at least 12 other times and detained for a total of five years. Her husband, Mr. Wang Fushun, and her sister, Ms. Hou Fuyun, both died as a result of the persecution.
