(Minghui.org) A woman in Chuxiong City, Yunnan Province, was taken back into custody on August 8, 2025, to serve a four-year prison sentence she was given in 2022 for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Liu Yijun was initially arrested on November 5, 2020, and released on bail hours later. She stood trial at the Chuxiong City Court on May 6, 2022. Judge Qin Xiaoyan personally delivered the verdict to her home the very next day: she was sentenced to four years in prison and six months of house arrest. She was also fined 7,000 yuan.
Ms. Liu filed an appeal but lost the case. She was allowed to postpone serving time so she could care for her bedridden mother. A few weeks after her mother died in mid-July 2025, the police took Ms. Liu to the Yunnan Province Second Women’s Prison.
Ms. Liu’s mother fell and became bedridden around 2011. Ms. Liu quit her job to care for her. While on the way to visit a local practitioner on April 27, 2014, Ms. Liu was arrested and later sentenced to two years in prison. During her prison term, her father struggled to care for her mother. He passed away shortly after Ms. Liu was released from prison.
