(Minghui.org) A 72-year-old woman in Chongqing was sentenced to two years in December 2025, for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Liu Shouyu, born in April 1953, began to practice Falun Gong in August 2008. Within just one week, many of her severe illnesses, including stomach conditions, heart problems, rheumatism, and eye floaters, began to improve.

Ms. Liu was arrested at home on the morning of April 2, 2025, by more than ten police officers. They returned that afternoon or evening and searched her place.

Ms. Liu was held at the Yinglong Town First Detention Center and was soon issued a formal arrest warrant. She was tried on November 19, 2025, and she was convicted weeks later.
