The Hague, Netherlands: Activities Mark 26th Year of Persecution in China

July 28, 2025 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in the Netherlands

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held a rally at the Chinese Embassy and the Peace Palace in the Hague on July 18, 2025, to mark 26 years of peaceful resistance against the persecution. They demonstrated the Falun Gong exercises, exposed details about the persecution, and collected signatures on a petition to call for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) suppression of Falun Gong that has gone on the 26 years. They called for everyone to work together and stop the CCP’s persecution, torture, killing, and transnational repression of Falun Gong practitioners.

Protest at the Chinese Embassy

Practitioners displayed banners near the front and back entrances of the Chinese Embassy in the Hague. Messages on the banners included: “End the 26 Years of Persecution of Falun Gong,” “Help Stop Persecution of Falun Gong in China,” “Help Stop Forced Live Organ Harvesting in China,” “Falun Dafa Is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good,” and “Falun Dafa Is Practiced in Over 100 Countries and Regions and Benefits Over 100 Million People.” The international organization, Human Rights Without Borders, sent a letter to express support for practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.

Netherlands Falun Dafa Association coordinator Ms. Wang Jia’en said, “On July 20, twenty-six years ago, the CCP launched its cruel and illegal persecution of Falun Gong. It used the entire country’s machinery, including the CCP organizations, the government, military, police, judicial system and medical institutions to carry out a genocide on Falun Gong practitioners by harvesting their organs. This is still happening. The CCP has committed crimes against humanity and genocide.

“Since June 2024, internal information from the CCP exposed that Xi Jinping and other senior officials personally issued orders, clearly instructing the smear campaign and silencing of Falun Gong and Shen Yun Performing Arts outside China. They manipulated and made use of Western media and the legal system to carry out public opinion attacks and lawfare to frame and suppress these peaceful groups.

“Over the past 26 years, practitioners in the Netherlands have joined practitioners in other parts of the world in resisting the persecution by peaceful means. These efforts have awakened tens of thousands of people and received the righteous support of Eastern and Western people. The day that the CCP regime began its illegal persecution of Falun Gong was the day that determined its inevitable fate: It will collapse.” Ms. Wang called for, “an immediate end to the persecution of Falun Gong and release of all illegally detained Falun Gong practitioners!”

Mr. Hans Noot, director of the Netherlands branch of Human Rights Without Borders, sent a letter expressing his organization’s support for Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution. He wrote, “Falun Gong is a peaceful cultivation activity that is based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. On July 20, 1999, the CCP carried out one of the most serious religious persecution in recent years, a campaign aimed at wiping out Falun Gong, which had millions of Chinese practicing at that time.

“Even though they escaped from China, Falun Gong practitioners were not able to fully escape the CCP’s clutches. The transnational repression is a harsh reality that Falun Gong refugees and other Chinese dissidents face even in Europe.”

The letter also stated, “As the director of Mensenrechten Zonder Grenzen Nederland, I want to express our steadfast support for Falun Gong practitioners. We see you. We hear your stories of hardship and perseverance. We promise to continue expanding your voices until justice is served. I call on the Dutch government, the EU, and all democratic countries: Hold the Chinese authorities accountable for these appalling human rights violations. Impose Magnitsky-style sanctions on perpetrators of torture and organ trafficking. Push for international investigations and refuse to turn a blind eye in the interest of business to proceed as usual.”

Three practitioners who recently fled China spoke at the rally and described their more than ten years of suffering, including imprisonment, torture, mental oppression and other forms of persecution. They shared the same wish to speak out for the millions of Falun Gong practitioners who are still being persecuted in China, and to tell people about the CCP’s true nature in hopes that the people of the world are no longer deceived by the CCP’s lies, so that they can understand the truth and be saved. They hope that China will soon enjoy a bright future without the CCP.

Activity at the Peace Palace

Practitioners held an event at the Peace Palace that afternoon and talked to tourists from all over the world. Many people stopped to visit with practitioners and several said they were drawn to the information on the large banners about ending the persecution.

Maria from Chile said she really liked the Falun Gong exercises that practitioners demonstrated. She said she wanted to find out about Falun Gong, hoping to share what she saw in the Netherlands with her family and friends when she returned to Chile. When she learned that practitioners were holding the rally to protest the CCP’s persecution, which has been going on for the past 26 years, Maria said, “Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance are very good values. They can help people become more humble and friendly. Meditation is also a healthy lifestyle to help people discover their better self. Falun Gong should not be suppressed. Our body belongs to ourselves, this [live organ harvesting] must be stopped immediately. I hope that more people can learn about this and sign the petition so that we can stop this matter together!”

Ivy and Jan were riding their bicycles past the Peace Palace and talked with a practitioner. They both signed the petition to show their support for practitioners’ efforts to call for an end to the persecution. Ivy told the practitioner, “What you all are doing is very important. It helps people realize that there are so many frightening things that are still happening. The persecution should stop and people should have peace!”

I Try My Best to Tell Everyone About the Persecution

Victor said, “I will cooperate well with other practitioners from all over the world to try even harder to expose the truth to people, helping them to make the right choice in this chaotic world and support [Dafa’s principles of] Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance. I hope that they can choose a peaceful, safe, and wonderful future for themselves.”
