(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Jakarta and Surabaya held activities on Saturday, July 12, 2025, marking 26 years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began its suppression of the spiritual practice in China.
Practitioners in Jakarta held a rally and candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese embassy, calling for an end to the ongoing persecution of Falun Gong in China.
The activity began with group exercises. Many passersby stopped to observe, accepted informational materials, and learned more about the severe human rights violations still taking place in China. Several praised practitioners for their peaceful and dignified efforts to raise awareness and seek justice.

During the rally, Sastrani, spokesperson for the Indonesian Falun Dafa Association, stated. “The Chinese Communist Party has not only persecuted Falun Gong in China for over 26 years, but it also abuses its diplomatic channels and state funds to buy influence globally. They use media outlets and social media influencers abroad to spread false narratives and launch smear campaigns against Falun Gong and its founder. The goal is to amplify disinformation and suppress the truth.”
Sastrani, spokesperson for the Indonesian Falun Dafa Association, calls for an end to the CCP’s persecution.
She added, “However, with the continued efforts of practitioners worldwide, more and more people and governments are learning the truth—that Falun Gong is a peaceful, righteous practice contrary to the CCP’s and its media portrayal. Falun Gong is very beneficial, significantly improving the morality and physical and mental health of its practitioners. Falun Gong has not caused any harm nor brought negative impact on society or on any local government. This is an undeniable fact, no matter how many lies the CCP has fabricated about Falun Gong.”
A man from China working in the area watched the activities and expressed surprise when he learned that Falun Gong is practiced in Indonesia. He also voiced support for the practitioners’ peaceful rally. “I was amazed to see the practitioners doing the exercises here. I didn’t know Falun Gong was practiced in this country,” he said.
Another passerby approached a practitioner out of curiosity, asking about the purpose of the event. He also inquired whether practitioners faced any interference during the activity and offered words of encouragement and support.
Nikky, a local journalist who covered the event for the first time, shared his thoughts after learning about the situation in China. “This persecution is brutal and a clear violation of human rights. I was appalled to hear that Falun Gong practitioners in China are subjected to such cruel treatment, including having their organs harvested while still alive. I can’t understand why a government would do this to its own people.”

The event concluded with a solemn candlelight vigil to honor and remember the practitioners who lost their lives because of the persecution.

That afternoon, Falun Dafa practitioners also held a rally and candlelight vigil in front of the Chinese Consulate in Surabaya City, East Java Province.
In addition to displaying banners that call for an end to the CCP’s 26 year-long persecution of Falun Gong in China, practitioners went around the buildings and a park near the activity location to tell people about the persecution and collect signatures on a petition that calls for an immediate end to the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong and forced organ harvesting.
