Northampton, Pennsylvania: Public Calls to End CCP’s Forced Organ Harvesting After Screening of State Organs

June 16, 2025 |   By a Falun Gong practitioner in the U.S.

(Minghui.org) The Northampton Free Library in Pennsylvania held a screening of the documentary State Organs on June 10, 2025. After watching the film, many audience members said they were shocked by the crimes of forced organ harvesting in China. They expressed support for the U.S. Senate to pass the Falun Gong Protection Act, and called for actions such as economic sanctions and public education to pressure the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to stop these human rights abuses.

The Northampton Free Library in Pennsylvania hosted a screening of the documentary State Organs on June 10, 2025.

The film, which won several international awards and was a contender for Best Documentary at the 2025 Oscars, tells the heartbreaking stories of two Chinese families who spent 20 years searching for their missing loved ones. It exposes the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and forced organ harvesting. The crimes shown include mass imprisonment, torture, and killing on demand to supply organs for transplants.

After the June 10, 2025 screening of State Organs at the Northampton Free Library in Pennsylvania, audience members spoke with Huang Kui (left at the table), a former PhD student at Tsinghua University who was imprisoned for five years in China for practicing Falun Gong, and Dr. Jessica Russo (right at the table), a representative of the group Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH).

Veterinarian: A Collapse of Medical Ethics

Veterinarian Jan Nichol said she was deeply shocked by what she saw in the film about forced organ harvesting in China. “From a medical point of view, it’s unbelievable,” she said. “I can’t imagine doctors actually removing organs from living people, then killing them, and putting the organs into wealthy or powerful patients. To me, this is devastating.”

Veterinarian Jan Nichol called the forced organ harvesting in China a collapse of medical ethics.

She added, “I can’t believe the CCP would actually do this. It’s overwhelming. It’s a wake-up call for me.” Jan said the issue not only shows the Chinese regime’s lack of ethics, but also reveals weaknesses in the global medical system.

Calling the crimes a betrayal of medical values, she said, “This is a complete breakdown of medical ethics.” She was heartbroken by the persecution. “These are young people in their twenties, full of hope and peace. They practiced something that was good for their minds and bodies and then they disappeared and were killed by the government. It’s like something out of a different world. It’s terrifying.”

She stressed, “People should never act this way. It’s cruel, it’s horrific and it’s being done to a peaceful group.”

Jan also praised the documentary State Organs for, “Doing a great job at spreading the truth.” She said, “We need to learn more and educate others. A friend of mine was supposed to come tonight, so I’m gathering information for her because I know she was just as unaware as I was before. We have to educate people. We just have to.”

Data Analyst: Cut Off the Chinese Regime’s Financial Lifeline

Data analyst Liz Y said she was shocked by the scale of the persecution shown in the film. “The number of people killed every day is unbelievable,” she said. “The Chinese government is doing this for two reasons: to silence dissent in China and to make money from organ transplants for people around the world.”

She said that before the screening, she had no idea Falun Gong practitioners were being persecuted. “Before seeing this film today, I really didn’t know about it. I heard about the persecution of Uyghurs, but I didn’t know about Falun Gong.

“I think it’s great that this film was shown,” she added. “My impression is, there’s a lot of evil in the world, but the CCP is the worst. I knew they were bad, but I didn’t realize just how cruel they really are.”

Liz called on the international community to put economic pressure on the Chinese regime. “If world leaders could cut off the CCP’s money flow, maybe that could stop the persecution. That’s the best solution I can think of.”

She also urged doctors not to refer patients to China for organ transplants. “Because going to China for an organ is the same as taking a life.” She said she supports efforts to help pass the Falun Gong Protection Act in the U.S. Congress.

Court Reporter: The International Community Must Take Responsibility

Court reporter Lori Kay said she was heartbroken by the scale of torture shown in the film. “It’s very upsetting to hear how many people have been tortured,” she said. “More people need to know about this. There should be more pressure on the CCP to stop these crimes.”

She also found the silence in Chinese society hard to understand. “It’s unbelievable that no one in China is standing up against this. There are so many Falun Gong practitioners, more than members of the Communist Party, but they don’t have the legal tools we have.”

Lori believes the international community should take some responsibility for not stopping the abuse sooner. “The world should feel guilty that this is happening. We need to speak out and push our countries to do the right thing.”

She also encouraged more people to learn about Falun Gong. “Maybe when people understand what Falun Gong really is, they’ll want to try it themselves. That would help raise awareness and show who the victims of this persecution really are.”
