(Minghui.org) A Linghai City, Liaoning Province, resident was secretly sentenced to one year for practicing Falun Gong, his family learned from an insider recently.

Mr. Qiu Chunsheng (also known as Qiu Sheng) was arrested on December 4, 2024. About seven officers showed up at his home in two cruisers a bit past 11 a.m. that day. They raided his home and seized him. Shortly after 4 p.m., the police returned to raid his home again, confiscating even more Falun Gong books and calendars bearing Falun Gong information.

The police arrested Mr. Qiu after they spotted him distributing calendars with Falun Gong messages from their surveillance videos.

The police promised to release Mr. Qiu in three days but never did. They delivered an arrest warrant for him to his family on December 9, 2024 and notified them that his case had been submitted to the Linghai City Procuratorate.

The Linghai City Detention Center barred Mr. Qiu’s family from visiting him here. The Linghai City Court later secretly sentenced him without notifying his family of his trial.
