A 77-year-old Chongqing woman died on May 16, 2024, one month after she was harassed again for her faith in Falun Gong.

Ms. Wang Jun took up Falun Gong in June 1997. Not long after the persecution began, she was arrested and sentenced to one year in prison. She was allowed to serve time at home.

After another arrest at an unknown time, Ms. Wang was held at a detention center for six months. She was arrested a third time on May 5, 2016, and was tortured in the Hechuan City Detention Center, including being handcuffed and shackled for several months. She was later sentenced to three years in prison and again allowed to serve time at home.

The police often harassed Ms. Wang at home and even instructed her neighbor to keep an eye on her. She had a stroke in 2018 and had mobility issues afterwards. Even so, the police still harassed her at home, even during holidays.

Around September 2023, officer Fang Hui went to Ms. Wang’s home to photograph and film her. He returned again around April 2024. She died on May 16 that year.
