My Two Cents in Reply to “Why Believe In Dafa”

Feb. 16, 2025 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Washington, DC

(Minghui.org) I was surprised to hear that a practitioner described the scientific evidence that made him believe in Dafa. This may be normal for a newcomer, but it is not appropriate for a veteran practitioner. He might need to re-evaluate his cultivation state.

In the movie “Infernal Affairs,” when one of the gangsters wonders if another gangster is an undercover cop, he asks, “Are we still brothers?” At this point, the narrator says, “The moment I asked him if he was a brother, we were no longer brothers.” Why? Because the moment he wanted proof, he was already doubting.

The same reasoning applies for a person’s faith. If one has to ask where his faith comes from, he does not have unconditional faith.

Conversely, if your faith in Dafa can be proven by something external, you believe in this evidence and its process, not in Dafa itself. In other words, your need to prove it exists is proof that you do not fundamentally believe in Dafa.

Dafa itself is the universal standard. How do you use another standard to prove the universal standard? Is it reasonable to use bits and pieces of the human world to prove the entirety of the universe and to use the low standards of one’s limited cognitive scope to prove the highest standards? How much should you believe in the conclusions you have deduced using this empirical scientific method?

I’ve never thought about why I believe in Dafa—I just do.

The other day, I asked another practitioner, “Have you ever thought about why you believe in Dafa?” She said, “Never.” She then told me how she went from believing in atheism to believing in God. It happened in a flash while listening to Master Li’s lectures. She realized, “Oh, it turns out that there is a God,” and then she believed. Those who genuinely believe do not ask why this happens.

In other words, becoming a genuine believer is not an earthly process but a process of assimilating to the Fa and gradually returning to one’s true self. Doubts do not come from your true self. You should send righteous thoughts to eliminate such doubts. When one wonders why he believes in Dafa, one has already separated himself from the Fa.

This is my understanding at my current level. Kindly point out anything that is not on the Fa.
