According to one practitioner, the most common phrase she heard from the islanders throughout the parade was, “Thank you!”
Before the commencement of the two-hour parade, a light drizzle and cloudy skies had blanketed the island. Fortunately, the weather turned fair as soon as the parade began.

After the conclusion of their street parade, members of the Tian Guo Marching Band were invited by Mr. Kuo Chi-wen, a famous Chinese pianist in Malaysia, to perform at the Jewel Piano Lounge located in the Baba House Hotel in Malacca. This charming hotel at the heart of Malacca was co-founded by Kuo Chi-wen and several of his friends. Kuo Chi-wen won the Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians Award in 1999 and acts as Governor for the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion. His other accomplishments include winning first place at the Sydney International Piano Competition.
This was the first time a brass band had been invited to perform at the hotel. A Christian, Kuo Chi-wen experienced feelings of gratitude after listening to the Tian Guo Marching Band. He said, “I think this positive energy can lift people’s spirits and drive out negative things, including evil spirits and ghosts.”
The performance attracted many passing tourists, who stopped and hovered outside the doors to watch. A Chinese couple who had learned about the event beforehand even came to the hotel lounge half an hour in advance to secure a good spot for the concert.
