(Minghui.org) Every Saturday, local Falun Gong practitioners hold an event on the square near the Kamppi Shopping Center in Helsinki. They tell people about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, distribute flyers, and demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises. Because practitioners have been holding activities here for a long time, some people don’t read the flyers—they directly sign the petition calling for an end to the CCP’s persecution.

Marika from Jyväskylä said with tears in her eyes, “I am very sorry to hear this. [The persecution] is terrible. It’s a pity that Western society, especially Western media, does not follow up on these things. The government has not taken any action to improve the situation.” A practitioner recommended that she watch the documentary, State Organs. She immediately asked where she could see it and said she wanted to take some action, “I want to write to the parliamentarians because this matter is very important and the media should report on it.

“I study social and cultural anthropology. Human rights issues are important issues in this field and more people should know about them. I will meet with my advisor next week and I will talk to him about this. He pays attention to issues about the persecution of human rights.” She gave the practitioner her email address and asked her to give her the latest updates about the persecution. Before she left, Marika hugged the practitioner and encouraged her, “Keep it up! I wish you all the best!”

Signing the Petition

A woman saw the practitioners collecting signatures and signed it. Five of her friends followed her and also signed it. A practitioner wanted to confirm whether they understood the purpose of the collection of signatures, and they answered very confidently, “Yes.”

Hali, a local resident, brought her friends to sign the petition. She said, “I passed by last month and learned about the persecution. I was shocked. I never thought there would be such a horrible thing. It’s inhumane. It’s very important that you’re here. What I can do is to bring my friends to sign.”

Talking about the Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance advocated by Falun Dafa, she said, “These values are very important. It’s really good that you are introducing them to more people.”

A man stopped and read about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting, and said this was the first time he had heard this. He immediately took out his mobile phone and searched for information about the persecution of Falun Gong. A practitioner recommended that he read the book, How the Specter of Communism is Ruling Our World, and he was immediately interested. He said that he was applying for a position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and usually did not sign petitions, but when he saw the petition calling on the Group of Seven (G7+7) to take action to stop the CCP’s forced organ harvesting, he signed it.
