(Minghui.org) The Minghui.org website recently confirmed the incarceration in July 2024 of a 77-year-old Fuyang City, Anhui Province resident, who was sentenced to 3.5 years for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Kang Yongcui was arrested in December 2023 after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Officers from the Yingquan Police Station raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong materials. She was sentenced to a 3.5-year prison term on December 28, 2023, by the Fuyang City Court, and admitted to the Hefei Women’s Prison in July 2024. Hefei is the capital of Anhui Province.

Ms. Kang took up Falun Gong around the time when the communist regime ordered the persecution. Many of her physical ailments, including bone hyperplasia, lumbar disc herniation, and migraine, soon disappeared.

She was arrested for doing the Falun Gong exercises in a park on February 6, 2000, the second day of the Chinese New Year, and detained for 58 days. Her family was also forced to pay a large fine.

Ms. Kang was arrested again around January 2006. After a month in the Funan County Detention Center, she was given one year at the Hefei Women’s Forced Labor Camp, where she was forced to work long hours with very little pay, while being subjected to brainwashing aimed at forcing her to renounce Falun Gong.

Ms. Kang’s next arrest was on June 27, 2013, for distributing Falun Gong materials. She was held at a police station overnight, then at the Lixin County Detention Center for 15 days, before being taken to the Bozhou City Detention Center, where she was detained for 15 months.
