(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 10 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 19 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Practitioner Zhang Rui from Daxing District was sentenced to four years in prison. Further details are not clear.
Practitioner Yang Jie, 63, was arrested at home in November 2023. Yang was held in custody and indicted by the Xihu District Procuratorate. The Xihu District Court held a hearing of Yang’s case on the morning of August 9, 2024. No verdict was announced that day.
Mr. Qin Songfa from Xiazhuang Town was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. He has been taken to Shandong Province Men’s Prison. He is scheduled to be released on May 3, 2025.
Ms. Qi Jie was tried by the Kongtong District Court on August 23, 2024.
Ms. Liu Zaiyun was admitted to the Hebei Province Women’s Prison on August 16, 2024, to serve a three-year term.
Ms. Gu Xiujie from Yi County was arrested by Liu Haizhi, head of Yi County Domestic Security Division, and his subordinates Xu Haoran and Ma Yuying on August 28, 2024, when she was talking to people about Falun Gong.
Ms. Zang Liyuan, from the Tenth Branch of Hongguang Farm, Baiyilaga Township, Qianguo County, was arrested by the internet monitoring department of Baicheng City and Zhenlai County Police Department in July 2024. The police raided her home on July 11, 2024. Her family revealed that the police had been monitoring her cell phone before her arrest. She is now facing prosecution after her arrest was approved in early September 2024.
Ms. Wang Limei from Jianbala Village, Taohaotai Township, Qianguo County, was discovered by the internet monitoring agents for communicating with other Falun Gong practitioners online. She was arrested by Zhenlai County Police Department on July 10, 2024, and held in Zhenlai County Detention Center. Her family hasn’t received any update about her situation since.
Practitioners Zhao Hanping and Liu Xiaofeng were arrested by officers from the Quanyuan Police Station in Shenhe District in mid-July 2024. Their families have been kept in the dark of their case status since.
Practitioners Guo Defen, Chen Mingxiu, and Peng Darong in Tongchuan District were arrested on May 10, 2024, by over ten officers from the Tongchuan District Police Department, the Domestic Security Division, and the Dongcheng Police Station. Their homes were ransacked.
Practitioner Zhao was arrested on the same day. The police also raided Zhao’s home and took away the computer and Falun Gong materials. Zhao was later released on bail.
Practitioner Shi visited Zhao shortly before the police came. The police also managed to track down Shi and raided his home, confiscating Falun Gong books and audio players.
Later in the day, the officers went to practitioner Hu’s home. They ransacked the place and confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun and recent writings by the founder of Falun Gong. Hu was taken to the Dongcheng Police Station and held there for most of the day. The officers interrogated Hu and produced a transcript.
In addition to arresting the six practitioners, the police also harassed Zhang Xiangqiong and Chen Mingxiu around the same time.
Ms. Zhao Shuping, in her 70s, lives in the Muping District. She was arrested at home by six officers, including Wang Fan from the Beixishan Police Station, on the morning of June 26, 2024. The officers confiscated all of her Falun Gong books, lecture tapes, exercise music players, and desk calendars with information about Falun Gong.
Ms. Zhao was taken to Fushan Detention Center. When she wanted to practice the Falun Gong exercises, the guards ordered the inmates to restrain her by holding her arms. She shouted “Falun Dafa is good!” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” to protest. Six inmates rushed over and pushed her to the ground. She was twice forced by the guards to write statements promising not to practice Falun Gong anymore.
After being detained for more than 40 days, Ms. Zhao was notified by Zhao Feifei of the Muping Procuratorate that she would be released on bail for one year.
