(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 3 cities or counties in 2 provinces, where at least 4 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xiuqun Detained
2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cao Jinfeng Arrested
3. [Chongqing] Mr. Ren Dongchuan Harassed
4. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Peng Jie Repeatedly Harassed

1. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yu Xiuqun Detained

Ms. Yu Xiuqun of the Xindu District, in her 50s, was photographed by a young man when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong on August 20, 2024 after 4 p.m.

The next day, officers from the Taixing Police Station ransacked her home, seized her Falun Gong books, Falun Gong printouts, as well as several thousand yuan of paper currency with information about Falun Gong printed on them.

Two days later, the police arrested Ms. Yu and took her to the Pi County Detention Center. She was denied family visits. 

2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Cao Jinfeng Arrested

Ms. Cao Jinfeng was arrested on the morning of September 17, 2024, when she was talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong in the Jiumao Farmer’s Market in the Shiling area, Longquanyi District. Further details are unknown.

3. [Chongqing] Mr. Ren Dongchuan Harassed

Mr. Ren Dongchuan has been harassed four times since August 2024. Three Xipeng Town community clerks first knocked on his door on August 10. A man set up a ladder in front of his home at noon on September 10, 2024 and worked on a surveillance camera facing his door. The man came by again the next day and replaced the surveillance camera with a new one, which was the third camera the Xipeng Town government had installed to monitor Mr. Ren since 2020. In the most recent incident, on September 14, officer Li Kai of the Xipeng Town Police Station harassed him at home.

4. [Xiangtan City, Hunan Province] Ms. Peng Jie Repeatedly Harassed

Ms. Peng Jie was arrested on August 18, 2020. Since her release, she has been repeatedly harassed by officers and community clerks.

Officer Huang Xinyao of the Yuhu District Political and Legal Affairs Committee brought his colleagues Wu Pan and Mo Linan, as well as several community clerks, to harass Ms. Peng at her home on May 16, 2024. They ordered her not to keep any Falun Gong books or pictures of the founder of Falun Gong at home, not to play Falun Gong-related videos to her grandson, and not to take care of her grandson.

Ms. Peng’s son called her at noon on August 30, 2024 and said, “Zhou Yang from the Judicial Office called me, ordering you to attend a brainwashing session in Changde City. They said you are their key target.” She refused to go and asked her son to direct all such calls to her in the future.

The authorities made another attempt to take Ms. Peng to the brainwashing center on September 5, 2024, but didn’t succeed. Ms. Peng’s son wrote a statement to renounce Falun Gong on September 9 on her behalf and showed it to his father. His father said, “She should not sign it.” He sent her away (to a safe place) the same day.
