(Minghui.org) August 15 is the Assumption of Mary, a national public holiday in Spain. Falun Dafa practitioners in Valencia, Spain’s third-largest city, held an event on August 15, 2024 to tell people about Falun Dafa and the 25-year-long persecution of the practice by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). 

Passersby in Valencia learn about Falun Dafa and offer words of support to practitioners. 

Valencia is the capital city of its province and is located along the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the sunniest cities in Europe. Falun Dafa practitioners set up their booth on a public square near a seaside road at 11 a.m. and stayed until 11 p.m. Because of the holiday, many people stopped at the booth, including local residents and tourists from Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and other countries. People expressed concern about the CCP’s suppression of Falun Dafa in China and signed a petition calling to end the brutal human rights abuses. 

Jorge is a journalist from Cuba who lives in Miami in the United States. He was on a family vacation in Valencia with his wife and son when he saw the practitioners' posters and banners. The family of three signed the practitioners' petition, hoping to stop the human rights atrocities in China. 

Jorge said that because he was from a communist country, he could understood how brutal the CCP could be and he was not surprised by the human rights atrocities in China. Jorge often reads The Epoch Times and said that from the paper he has learned about the mistreatment Falun Dafa practitioners face in China, including forced organ harvesting. 

Local resident Sheila was out for a walk with her husband and two children when she saw the booth and became interested in learning more. Sheila had read the Bible and said she knew how bad the persecution in China is because it targets faith. When signing the petition with her husband, she said, “The CCP is demonic and it represents the evil on this planet.”
