(Minghui.org) Practitioners in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in southern Spain held an event at Plaza de España on August 16, 2024, where they told people about Falun Dafa and the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution, and collected signatures on a petition calling for a stop to the brutality. They displayed banners and distributed flyers to passersby. People stopped to learn about the event and were shocked when they heard about the persecution.

The city center, Plaza de España, is connected to several commercial streets which are lined with coffee shops and restaurants. People go to the plaza with their families and friends to shop and walk, and practitioners chose this popular area to demonstrate the exercises and collect signatures. They introduced Falun Dafa and told residents and tourists about the CCP’s persecution.

Hopes to Help End the Persecution

Samir, who works for a local radio station, went to the practitioners’ booth after participating in a political event nearby. After reading the information he learned that Falun Dafa was a spiritual practice, and that practitioners in China have been persecuted for 25 years under the CCP’s dictatorship.

Samir said he hopes to do his part to stop the persecution.

When he learned about the existence of the living organ bank and the illegal trade of organs in China, he said, “This is so shocking. I’ve never heard of such an evil deed!” He said he hoped to do his part to stop the persecution. He gave his contact information to practitioners and promised to interview practitioners during his radio program so they could tell people about the CCP’s persecution and forced organ harvesting.

Spanish Youth: The CCP can Commit Any Evil

Bruno and Nicole stopped to read the information boards, and they listened attentively while a practitioner explained the facts about Falun Dafa. Bruno said that this was the first time he had heard about the persecution. They said they were shocked, and condemned the CCP for such inhuman persecution. They signed the petition to support practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution.

Bruno said that he was not surprised that such things were happening in a country run by a dictatorship which lacked transparency. “The CCP can commit any evil,” he said.

Bruno and Nicole condemned the CCP for persecuting Falun Dafa.

Two young students stopped to read the information on the display boards, and said they were worried about the severity of the persecution. After signing the petition, they said that signing to help end the persecution was a righteous thing to do, and they were pleased to do it.

Chinese Girl: The Persecution Must be Stopped

Aurora, an 18-year-old Chinese girl, said she was adopted by a Spanish couple when she was 3 years old. After reading a flyer, she said she hadn’t heard about Falun Dafa or the persecution before. She decided to sign the petition to help end the persecution. She said, “Although the persecution is far away, it should not happen and must be stopped.”

She said she hopes to go to China after she graduates and learn about Chinese culture. She thanked the practitioners for telling her this important information.

Elderly Man Admires Practitioners’ Courage

Mr. Franco, 84, stopped in front of the display boards in his wheelchair. He was shocked upon learning that the CCP harvests organs from practitioners while they are alive. After he read the information, he said, “I don’t know how to describe my feeling in words. I experienced wars and the dictatorship in Spain, but I have never heard of such a cruel and vicious dictator as the CCP!”

Mr. Franco was appalled upon learning about the atrocity of forced organ harvesting.

He signed the petition and told the practitioners that he admired their courage in exposing the CCP’s persecution.
