(Minghui.org) A 59-year-old Anshan City, Liaoning Province, resident, is facing indictment for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Qu Pengcheng, a former steel mill worker, was arrested at his rental place on May 18, 2024, by officers from the Gongchangling District Domestic Security Division (in neighboring Liaoyang City), the Tiedong Police Department in Anshan City and its subordinate Heping Police Station. The police spent hours ransacking his home and confiscated his personal items and some cash. After a brief interrogation at the Gongchangling Police Department, he was admitted to the Liaoyang City Detention Center. The Dengta City Procuratorate approved his arrest on June 20. Dengta is under the administration of Anshan.

Mr. Qu took up Falun Gong in the fall of 1998. Many of his ailments soon disappeared. He quit smoking and drinking, and became more willing to help.

In 2001, two years after the onset of the persecution, because Mr. Qu told a colleague about Falun Gong, his manager at work ordered him to renounce his faith and reported him to the police. His home was raided and his Falun Gong books taken away. He was also detained for 45 days.

Two years later in 2003, Mr. Qu’s manager at work threatened to detain him if he didn’t renounce Falun Gong. He was forced to live away from home and he didn’t dare to contact his family for fear that the police would find him again.
