My Thoughts About the Recent Mass Arrests in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province

Aug. 30, 2024 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner in Guangdong Province, China

(Minghui.org) In April this year, almost all the local Falun Dafa practitioners in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, were arrested or had their homes ransacked and property confiscated by the local authorities. Most practitioners had their Falun Dafa books or computers taken and a material production site was destroyed. So far, only two practitioners I know have been released on bail.

Since then, the police have continued to harass and persecute practitioners. The police even went out of their way to arrest practitioners living out of town. I have some thoughts on what may have caused this tremendous loss of resources to happen.

Failure to Expose the Evil

Every year, several practitioners had their homes ransacked multiple times and were arrested, detained, or interrogated at the police station. Nobody—not even those who were persecuted—ever exposed these incidents in a timely way or shared the experience with other practitioners. The practitioners being persecuted feared retaliation or had other concerns, and were not clear on the Fa principles about exposing evil interference. As a result, the evil was able to hide behind these fears and concerns and continued to persecute practitioners, knowing it wasn’t likely to be exposed.

As Fa-rectification approaches the end, we should no longer protect our fear, concerns, and attachments to save face. The only way to stay safe and save more people is through actively exposing all forms of persecution. When we make it clear to law enforcement and officials that what they did to us was illegal and will be exposed to the world, they will restrain or stop their illegal conduct. This means that they may have a chance of being saved. We shouldn’t hurt their chances just because we want to protect ourselves from retaliation.

We must understand the difference between the evil itself and the people controlled by the evil. When we respond following the Fa principles, the evil won’t keep attacking us, and the knowing side of those people being controlled by it will know that we are saving them. We must be clear that the purpose of exposing the evil is to save people—not to unleash our anger on the people who persecuted us.

Failure to Look Within and Cherish the Fa Study Environment

Some practitioners wanted to save face and didn’t want other practitioners to know that they’d been arrested, were ill, or failed a test. For years, these practitioners refused to face up to their faults or listen to sharing from other practitioners.

There were also practitioners who considered group Fa study a formality. They would either come late or leave early and didn’t stay around to share with others. Over time, they did less and less to clarify the truth and were often targeted by the evil. Many of these practitioners, even some who were relatively young, passed away due to sickness karma.

Another reason that some practitioners didn’t attend group Fa study was because they didn’t like other practitioners there. There were also practitioners who were afraid for their own safety and refused to let practitioners who had just come out of detention attend group Fa study.

Because local practitioners didn’t come together as a united group, the old forces intensified the persecution of the few diligent practitioners who were actively clarifying the truth. Many of these diligent practitioners were arrested and imprisoned. Years ago, a material production site was sabotaged and the practitioner who worked there was imprisoned. After that, almost no one wanted to be involved in making and distributing truth-clarifying materials.

For years, very few elderly practitioners who clarified the truth face to face would take flyers with them. They considered the flyers to be physical evidence that the evil could use against them if they were arrested. I think this attachment of fear and incorrect understanding made it more likely that they would be persecuted.

Safety Issues When Using Mobile Devices

For years, one male practitioner promoted online Fa study. Some elderly practitioners who joined his online group, and were later persecuted, still believed in him and refused to quit the group. After Minghui.org published a sharing article titled, “Practitioners in Mainland China, Please Stop Online Fa Study,” Master made the following comment,

“These software programs cannot be used among practitioners. Whoever alters the exercise music is causing damage.” (“Practitioners in Mainland China, Please Stop Online Fa Study (With a Comment from Master)”)

This male practitioner edited the exercise music and spread it among practitioners. His private life was promiscuous, and he once renounced his faith in Falun Dafa but didn’t issue a solemn statement afterwards. He was often summoned to the police station or detained. He is one of the practitioners arrested in April this year and other practitioners bailed him out. No matter who he was, a secret agent or a practitioner who isn’t diligent, we need to wake up and stop giving him an audience.

Cell phones in China are used by the authorities for tracking and surveillance. Almost all local practitioners still use WeChat, even after being told to delete it. Many practitioners frequently browse TikTok and shop online using their cell phones. Some practitioners saved other practitioners’ phone numbers on their phones and called them whenever they wanted. When they visited each other, they took their phones with them and paid no attention to what they said when their phones were nearby.

The following are some examples of what happens when practitioners fail to pay attention to the use of their cell phones.

Practitioner Feng had gotten out of prison for a few days. She went to Bing’s place with her phone and, almost immediately, the police showed up in Bing’s place. Practitioner Feng hid in the bathroom until the police left.

Practitioner Cai called Deng on a cell phone. Because Deng’s phone was tapped, the police immediately raided Cai’s place, and repeated what Cai had said to Deng in their phone call.

Practitioner Jie brought his phone to a Fa study group, and secret agents soon followed him. Jie left early, but the study group, which took practitioners a long time to establish, was busted.

A temporary coordinator called two practitioners right after police had raided her home, implying that the police had just left. One of the practitioners she called, who wasn’t previously known to the police, had her home ransacked immediately. The police also arrested the practitioner and detained her in a detention center for several days. The coordinator was arrested himself in April, and she gave out another practitioner’s information, resulting in that practitioner’s arrest.

Lack of Unity with No Responsible Coordinator

For a very long time, we haven’t found a responsible, clear-headed practitioner who was willing to take on the role of coordinator. The local practitioners each do their own thing and haven’t formed a solid team.

I don’t mean to criticize local practitioners with this article. We must cherish our predestined relationships and the limited time we have left, let go of our selves, look within, and quickly correct our wrongdoing based on the Fa so that we can all return to our homes.
