(Minghui.org) The 35th Oswego Harborfest was held on July 26-28, 2024. Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, Oswego has a rich cultural heritage and attracts thousands of visitors to this annual event. Practitioners participated in the festival to introduce Falun Dafa and tell people about the brutal persecution launched by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in July 1999.
Many tourists come to the summer resort to enjoy its beautiful scenery as well as its traditional crafts, a variety of cuisine, and the exciting evening fireworks. This year they also learned about Falun Dafa and the ongoing persecution. Practitioners explained that the Chinese authorities arrest practitioners who refuse to renounce their faith, and have harvested their organs against their will, sometimes while they were still alive. Hundreds of people signed the petition demanding that the U.S. Senate pass the Falun Gong Protection Act, and that the CCP end the persecution.
Practitioners participated in the 35th Oswego Harborfest and told people about Falun Dafa. Many visitors signed the petition to help end the ongoing persecution.
A military man set up a booth to register eligible people for military service. A practitioner told him about Falun Dafa and how practitioners in China are persecuted. He agreed with the principles of the practice (Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance) and sympathized with practitioners.
When the practitioner asked for his signature, he said that it was inappropriate for him to sign the petition while he was at work wearing his uniform. The practitioner understood and gave him and his family informational fliers and lotus flowers. As the practitioner continued to talk to people at other booths, the soldier came over and asked her to stop by his booth later because he talked with his wife about the persecution, and she wanted to sign the petition. The next day the soldier came to the Falun Dafa booth in casual clothing and signed the petition.
A practitioner told a woman how she became healthy through practicing Falun Dafa, but she was tortured in China because she refused to give up her faith. The woman was touched by the practitioner, who wanted to speak up to help her fellow practitioners in China, and signed the petition. She hugged the practitioner to show her support.
A young man learned about Falun Dafa and signed the petition. He returned that evening to help practitioners pack their tent.
A man and his son listened as a practitioner explained what Falun Dafa is, and about the persecution. The man signed the petition as soon as he realized she was collecting signatures, and told her he hopes the persecution ends soon.
