(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 8 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
Mr. Liu Min was tried by the Anda Court in the Lanxi County Detention Center on April 2, 2024. He was represented by a court-appointed lawyer. His family was not allowed to attend the hearing.
Mr. Liu’s family hired a lawyer for him after the hearing. The lawyer visited Mr. Liu at the detention center on April 9 and later reviewed his case document after a brief meeting with the judge. The judge returned the case to the Anda Procuratorate on May 1, citing insufficient evidence. Mr. Liu’s lawyer visited him again on May 7. The meeting lasted for over one hour. The court held another hearing of Mr. Liu on June 27. He was transferred to the Bin County First Detention Center afterward.
Ms. Xu Lichun from Tai’an County, has appeared in the Lishan District Court on December 1, 2023, and April 23, 2024. The court twice returned her case to the Tai’an County Police Department, citing insufficient evidence. A third hearing of her case has been scheduled for July 3, 2024.
Ms. Wang Fan, Mr. Du Jianxin, and Mr. Fu Jian will be tried by the Dongying District Court at 2:30 p.m. on July 3, 2024.
Ms. Wu Xianyun, 75, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison by the Shunde District Court in 2022. She has been taken to the Guangdong Province Women’s Prison to serve time.
Ms. Zhang Xiulan has been detained in the Jinan Women’s Prison since 2022 to serve an eight-year term. Her family went to visit her recently. She was in poor health condition and emaciated. Two inmates pushed her out in a wheelchair. She was so weak that she couldn’t remain seated on herself. One inmate had to support her back and the other one held the microphone for her. Despite her condition, the prison refused to release her on medical parole.
Ms. Wang Guizhen was recorded by the surveillance cameras while distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on May 4, 2024. Several officers from the Lalin Town Police Station followed her home. They ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, a portrait of Falun Gong’s founder, and some Minghui Weekly magazines.
